With only eight days left in his presidency, President Obama ended the long-standing policy of accepting Cuban immigrants fleeing the communist island and seeking freedom in the US. Of course, he did this on his own without any consultation with Congress. As a result, Cubans who would have been free yesterday, will now be turned back over to the Cuban authorities - most likely, not welcomed with open arms.

Cuban Americans from both parties denounced the move. Former Republican Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart tweeted, "Obama will continue to shower the enemies of freedom with gifts until 1/20/17." And Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez, described the move as one that "will only serve to tighten the noose the Castro regime continues to have around the neck of its own people."

    Very sad day.

Don't count on Trump to reverse the new policy:

"In February of last year, the Tampa Bay Times asked Trump if it was fair for Cubans who arrive in the U.S. to automatically get legal status, a path to citizenship and federal welfare benefits.

"“I don’t think that’s fair. I mean why would that be a fair thing?” Trump responded. “I don’t think it would be fair. You know we have a system now for bringing people into the country, and what we should be doing is we should be bringing people who are terrific people who have terrific records of achievement, accomplishment...."
