Obama's 2011 Vacation to Hawaii $4 Million Tax Dollars

Taxpayers, meaning us, paid for the Obama's 2011 Vacation to Hawaii to the tune of nearly $4 million:

Hawaii Reporter research shows the total cost for the President’s visit for taxpayers far exceeded $1.5 million in 2010 — but is even more costly this year because he extended his vacation by three days and the cost for Air Force One travel has jumped since last assessed in 2000. In addition, Hawaii Reporter was able to obtain more specifics about the executive expenditures.

The total cost (based on what is known) for the 17-day vacation roundtrip vacation to Hawaii for the President, his family and staff has climbed to more than $4 million.

But this freeloader family wants to raise taxes on the rich!!!

But what is he to do to cut costs? In addition to having to pay for an actual vacation, he cannot choose to take a regular airline, go without secret service, forgo security where he goes (in addition to secret service), etc. Yes, it costs - and it seems silly but when you figure out all that they are including, I don't see much of a way around it. He certainly couldn't even go camping for less than a few million, I'm sure!

Secondly, they could quit taking so many vacations on our dime!! That trip to Maine, the DOG and Obama's "personal assistant" Reggie Love flew on a separate plane.

From Maine's Morning Sentinel:

The president was the first to walk onto the tarmac, dressed casually in a pale blue Oxford shirt and khakis. A few minutes later, the first lady, dressed in black capris, a tank-top and sandals, walked onto the runway. Shortly afterward, Malia and Sasha joined their parents.

Arriving in a small jet before the Obamas was the first dog, Bo, a Portuguese water dog given as a present by the late U.S. Sen Ted Kennedy, D-Mass.

CARBON FOOTPRINTS, ANYONE?

For starters, the POTUS and the First Lady could fly on the same plane.

But maybe she has more time to be away - or has to be away at certain times with the kids and it doesn't coordinate with her husband's schedule. I would guess she and the kids have a bit more freedom in the summer and on school holidays whereas he may have presidential things to do during that time. :)

I don't think it's an Obama thing - it's just a presidential thing. Fortunately, many of our presidents had places to go that they owned so they didn't have to pay as much for vacation. I don't believe President Obama has a ranch or a compound somewhere. LOL

I highly doubt the flight was for the dog alone.

For what it's worth the actual cost to taxpayers isn't realistic, these costs are all budgeted.

Ironically I never saw any of you guys complaining about the Bush family vacations or trips overseas when he was in office.

It's hard for me to get revved up about the Obama's taking an expensive vacation when he's doing so much more real and lasting damage to this nation with his deficit spending and running up of the debt.

So he's just supposed to sit in the White House for 8 years?

I mean I don't angry if he takes a vacation. There's so much nit-picking about Obama--doesn't wear a flag lapel pin, puts his feet up on the White House desk, takes too many vacations, etc. etc. Meanwhile while the right is getting torqued off about that they lose focus of how Obama is bankrupting our nation with his wild budgets and deficit spending.
