Obama's boo-boo: Police acted "stupidly"

Obama's good friend, Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., was arrested this week by Cambridge, MA police.

Gates is black. He cried, "racism."

Obama decided to weigh in. He called the police actions "stupid," and launched a sermon about racial profiling.

Note to Obama: When you have to start your response with, "I don’t know – not having been there and not seeing all the facts," perhaps that's all you should say.

Stupid response. Of course, he'll get a pass by most. Most presidents would've been strung up for a gaffe like that.

And yes, I read the story. He showed the cops 0 respect and got what he deserved.

Professor Gates is about 150 lbs soaking wet, and middle aged and walks with a cane. After proving that it was his house, he was told to step outside his door, which he did and then was arrested. Gates was asked to step outside because he could not be arrested for disorderly conduct inside of his own home.

This is where I hear conflicting stories, I heard he was verbally abusive to the officers. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think that's a reason to be arrested but it seems there is more to this story.

Unlike my President, I will decline judgment at this time.

That is my point: why should you comment on what is an active investigation? If there's more than you know about, your comments could mess things up...you are, after all, the president.

It could be that Obama is on the money. But he was dumb, a few hours into this, to comment on it. And to play the race card was just plain silly. It's far too early to know that. It's even too early for the great Robert Snow to know that.

you'll see cops less likely to arrest or investigate blacks because of this, otherwise they're accused of racism.
Originally reported was the man refused to identify himself and prove he lived there. People called police becasue they saw someone busting in the door, this is what cops found, someone busting in the door, who refused to show he lived there.
I don't know about anyone else but if cops find someone busting in my door I want them involved, and if it's me, I'm going to whip out my id and prove it's me, and I'm not going to work to casue trouble either. Either way I want cops on the job doing their job. But now we're being told if a black man tries to bust in our door(no matter what color we are) then the cops should do nothing about it or our president will call them stupid.

It seems that the Boston Globe has deleted all details of this arrest from its website.

Why?

Well, it's pretty obvious. Gates made a fool of himself.

When you yell racism at cops who arrest blacks then your likely to see cops not wanting to arrest blacks, especially when the president gets on tv and calls you stupid.
Like it or not.
This is one more bit where it's blacks trying to keep racism alive.
