Boston, MA – Governor Mitt Romney today announced that Colorado Governor Bill Owens (R-CO) and U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) will serve as senior advisers to the Romney for President Exploratory Committee, Inc.

Sworn-in as Governor of Colorado in 1999, Governor Owens has demonstrated effective executive leadership. In 2002, the people of his state re-elected Governor Owens with the greatest majority in Colorado history. "I am honored to welcome Governor Owens as a senior adviser to my exploratory committee. Romney kicks off fundraising campaign

White House hopeful Mitt Romney and 400 of his backers raised more than $6.5 million on Monday in a glitzy fundraising blitz that will force all Republican rivals to take notice.

"They've come together and blown us away today, and humbled us at the same time," said the former Massachusetts governor as he clutched the hand of his wife, Ann.

The figure dwarfed the $2 million that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., raised and the $1 million collected by former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Like Romney, the two have created committees exploring bids for the GOP's presidential nomination.

Senator DeMint is a conservative leader in the U.S. Senate and the chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, a caucus of conservative senators that includes the majority of the Republican Conference. ​

"Senator DeMint believes, as I do, that we must find new solutions to help ensure the American Dream for every citizen. HERZLIYA, Israel -- Mitt Romney, making a passionate appeal to pro-Israel voters, declared at a major conference on Israeli security yesterday that the United States must keep Iran from acquiring a nuclear bomb, and he's helping a former Israeli prime minister lobby Massachusetts to divest pension funds from companies that do business with the country.

"Iran must be stopped and can be stopped," Romney said to a standing ovation at the Herzliya Conference, an annual gathering of leading Israeli and American political figures and security specialists.

Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) dismal performance on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday shook a little of his inevitability as the Republican nominee. Conservatives are increasingly moving to the standard of former Massachusetts Republican Gov. Mitt Romney, forgetting his liberal past. McCain's sudden attacks on Vice President Dick Cheney and former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld while pressing for more troops for Iraq have caused unease among Republicans.
