Major Terror Plot Against U.S. Ignored
The mainstream U.S. media outlets have failed to report a major terrorist plot against the U.S. - because it would tend to support President Bush's use of NSA domestic surveillance, according to media watchdog groups.

...News of a planned attack masterminded by three Algerians operating out of Italy was widely reported outside the U.S., but went virtually unreported in the American media. Curiously, what was deemed worthy of a worldwide media blitz abroad was virtually ignored by the U.S. media, and conservative media watchdog groups are saying that is no accident.

"My impression is that the major media want to use the NSA story to try and impeach the president," says Cliff Kincaid, editor of the Accuracy in Media Report published by the grassroots Accuracy in Media organization.
"If you remind people that terrorists actually are planning to kill us, that tends to support the case made by President Bush. They will ignore any issue that shows that this kind of [wiretapping] tactic can work in the war on terror.”

I encourage you to read the full story.

If anyone wants to listen to my phone calls, they may be bored to death, but that is no problem for me!

Yes to legal wiretaps in the U.S. Yes to following the U.S. constitution and the laws of the land in the U.S.

No to illegal wiretaps in the U.S. No to a rogue executive branch in the U.S.

Ken, and others who agree with him -- have you noticed that we have had NO terrorist attacks on our soil since 9/11?

That is what our elected President is supposed to do -- provide for the common defense.

    He has done it.

Why are people afraid of terrorists when it is the drunk drivers who are killing us?

    wow, I don't know...

Actually, sarcasm aside, there are already laws against drinking and driving.

Tobacco kills, too. Millions. My mother died when one of her coughing spasms from smoking was more than her heart could handle and she slid down the wall with drool coming out of her mouth as her heart stopped. That is how my brother found her the next day.

Cancer kills. Much of it caused by our own living habits. Warnings have gone out about a number of things. How many still drink diet drinks with aspartame, when the companies and many comsumers already know it causes brain damage?

With us killing ourselves off so rapidly, why worry about terrorists?

Is that the attitude you want us to have?

We also went from 1993 until 2001 without any attacks by foreigners on our soil, and we didn't have the Patriot Act or other enhanced executive branch powers that President Bush has seemingly grabbed.

Purely a coincidence. An accident. A freak occurrence.

Couldn't possibly be any other reason. ;)

Let something happen that could have been avoided by wiretapping and see who will be singing the loudest and how the tunes will change.

    To quote Chuck Baldwin:

"America has always stood for liberty! All nations promise security, but America has only promised freedom. A bird in a cage is secure, but it is not free. George W. Bush wants to put America in a cage. And, unfortunately, most conservatives seem fine with that.

Shame on us! Shame on us conservatives! We sully the memories and stain the honor of our forebears!

Listen again to the words of America's founders. Hear again their cries for freedom. Hear George Washington when he said, "The thing that separates the American Christian from every other person on earth is the fact that he would rather die on his feet than live on his knees."

Hear Samuel Adams when he declared, "If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

Listen to Benjamin Franklin when he said, "They that would give up essential liberty for a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Hear Patrick Henry one more time, "Give me liberty, or give me death!"

There is more to life than living! There is more to being an American than being secure! Patrick Henry understood that."

I like it here, thanks just the same, Helen (that was kind of nasty and personal on your part).

But I liked it better before our current president invaded Iraq, ran up the deficit and began violating the civil liberties of his constituents.

You know how the extremists on the Far Right are, Daisy. They have a habit of not tolerating very well people who don't agree with them. They remind me of the mullahs in Iran in their attitude toward those who disagree with them.

I would like to hear some alternative suggestions for the handling of the situtation we are in, not comments on what somebody should or shouldn't have done. As a cold war error veteran I spent many a day trying to listen in on our countries then enemy. I hear alot of complaining but know body coming up with solutions. We are in a war that will not being ending anytime soon even if we pulled out of the middle east today.
