Okay Let's try this Again How many use Gospel tracts?

I was really surprised by the answers on that poll!

They really are suprising Use those Tracts! God's Word will not come back empty

 

I use tracks but not as much as I should. We have done a track ministry before that was alittle different before and even the kids had alot of fun with it. Each member chose there own tract ministry( where they would leave the tract). Some of the places they chose was with a tip at the restruant,in library books, jean pockets in the department store, the sleets in the lockers at school, ect. Some people where real creative and would unroll some of the toilet tissue and roll it back up with one in it at a public restroom. If a person went to the restroom and pulled some of the paper it would fall out. The best way to witness with tracts are to do it in person though. A person may not get saved from reading a tract but it will probably plant a seed. ~Sheila~

I do use them but not as much as I used to. I used to leave them in resturants, bathrooms, payphones, in library books. Just about anywhere I could put one, sometimes even on grocery store shelves. I don't really know why I don't use them as much. I think I will from now on. They do plant a seed of God's word.

 

A tract a day will keep the devil away.

 

I quit using them. They make people shut down. I can witness much more effectively verbally, with my Bible as back-up.
I don't disagree with them. Whatever works for you.

 

My biggest gripe about tracts is that they tend to stereotype what non-Christians think and feel. They tend to make perfect sense from the perspective of conservative, evangelical Christians; but a lot of non-Christians find them laughable.

I just wanted to add that once my oldest son who was probably about 12 at the time stuck one in the hand dryer blower at a gas station. I would have like to have been a fly on the wall when the tract blew out. LOL If it had happened to me I would have had to pick that one up and read it. ~Sheila~

 

Hey thanks for the tip....I'm gonna have to try that. My husband folds them up and puts them in 12 packs of pop.

 

Some good tracts are simply Bible tracts. There are some that you can get from American Bible Society that are simply the Gospel of John or I think also the Gospel of Mark.

The weakness of some tracts is that they play to "felt needs" rather than simply presenting Biblical truth. I still believe the best thing you can give out is a Bible or a NT. But I do use tracts that are sound. I typically use those by the NAMB or American Tract Society.

We have a printing ministry, which we use tro print our own tracts. We just finished our first printing and assembling this week.

It is nice to be able to have tracts that apply to the area in which you are serving.

 

That sounds like a good idea to print tracts. Then that way they look like they apply to the people you use them with. Instead of being generic for anyone and everyone.

 

I use tracts a lot. We have church wide visitation on Saturdays,and we take out tracts, flyers,and small New Testiments.
Besides that, I pass them out at school {even though i'm not suposed to } and when I go to the library, I put them inside of books. When we go to the bank, i put them in the little tube thingie that shoots down. {do ya'll know what I mean? I don't know what it's called}
I try to keep a tract at the computer always, because I never know when I may have the opertunity to wittness to someone online.
Also, those junk mail letters you get that have free postage? Put a tract in it and send it back to them.
A few days ago, a friend of mine from church and I went out on visitation, and he left the box of tracts on top of his SUV {give him a break. He's 21 and he forgets things regularly! }
and as we went driving down the road, he looked in his rearveiw mirrow, only to see it showering tracts!
"Well that's one way to spread the word." He muttered.
I think it is a wonderful idea to use tracts. The come in handy when you don't have a Bible with you.
We also order Spanish tracts, too. I don't speak too much Spanish, but the tracts can explain it to them in their own language.
Going out and passing out tracts is also a lot of fun! you meet all kinds of people. SOme like the tracts, and some slam their door in your face, but every once in a while, someone reads them and gets saved.
I use tracts because I think they are a good way to get the gospel out.

PS, Brother Ernie, what printing company are you with? You may print some of the tracts our church uses.

As for people who leave them on park benches or telephones or in the pockets of pants still on the rack at retail stores, what's the difference between this and littering?

Also, what kind of witness is it to the people at the store when you put things into their merchandise (I assume) without their permission?

If you put tracts in the envelope with your bills, how do you feel about the fact that they cause the machines that open your bills to jam? Is this a good witness to the people who have to stop what they're doing ten or fifteen times a day and clear the jam?

Having worked for a bank who handled bill payments for several different companies, I can tell you first hand that the machines are only calibrated to the thicknss of bill and the accompaning check. That's why most companies ask you to adress correspondence to a different address.

People who operate the machines usually have their performance judged based on how many envelopes they go through on an hour and when their machine jams, it greatly reduces their quota numbers.

Does this help or hurt the machine operator?

When you put tracts in the junk mail envelopes with the "free postage", you know that it's not really free, don't you?

The company still has to pay for it. Do the people who have to pay for your tract consider it a good witness?

Our printing ministry at this time is printing music, and tracts for our church; also we are printing the New Testament in the Twsana language for our missionaried in South Africa.

As for putting tracts in envelopes to businesses, this is perfectly acceptable. Very few businesses send out payment notices without stuffing the envelop with inserts soliciting other business. every credit card bill includes solicitations for products. If they can stuff envelops with solicitations I find nothning wrong with giving someone the opportunity to read the Gospel.

If the envelop is too bulky for the machinery then open it by hand....DUH....don't destroy machinery by being stupid!
