I watched the 1954 Classic Movie the other day....ON THE WATERFRONT.

here is a quote from a priest struggling to help his community.

Father Barry: Some people think the Crucifixion only took place on Calvary. They better wise up! Taking Joey Doyle's life to stop him from testifying is a crucifixion. And dropping a sling on Kayo Dugan because he was ready to spill his guts tomorrow, that's a crucifixion. And every time the Mob puts the pressure on a good man, tries to stop him from doing his duty as a citizen, it's a crucifixion. And anybody who sits around and lets it happen, keeps silent about something he knows that happened, shares the guilt of it just as much as the Roman soldier who pierced the flesh of our Lord to see if he was dead.

Is there any connection between his comment and our own struggle to stop oppression from various Islamic groups?

THE crucifiction covered the sins of the world,

A crucifiction is a martyrdom, paying the cost of a personal conviction.

Quite correct.....and so is martyrdom a legitimate reason to die for a personal conviction ..... or, like the dock workers in the movie, are we to be abused by the big-shots wielding all the power?

Like the Father said: "And every time the Mob puts the pressure on a good man, tries to stop him from doing his duty as a citizen, it's a crucifixion."

Sounds like a call to action to me.

There is some good advice there. Barry's mistake is making a comparison to "THE Crucifixion of Jesus Christ." There are people in politics today who are guilty of playing shut mouth. The democrat Senators know that Obama is guilty of showing his contempt for both the Constitution and Congress {House and Senate} by his latest executive order on immigration but they are backing him to the hilt. Frankly I hope the Republicans stand their ground and pick up a few more seats in 2016.

Obama's continued refusal to name the Islamic terrorists is a potential deadly example of shut mouth. He has no problem blaming the American people for the Crusades that took place 600-700 years before the country existed but will not name the terrorists. Makes one wonder!

But it is not only in politics that "shut mouth" allows evil to abound.

Let me say this about RC's clergy.They used to be very active in community. For years, they helped my mother who was a widow with 3 kids & one was Cerebral Palsy. And today they feed & clothe most of the poor in NYC. They also conduct a very successful AA Meeting in my community & also Matt Talbot retreats (specific to Alcoholics & drug addicts). I appreciate that they see Christ in other people & act on it.

And then lastly a full 70% of church goers in New Jersey are practicing Catholics (and growing with the influx of Latin Americans.....so you have to give credit where credits due.

And yes, I am using this as a platform for "Naming the Darkness" because until we each stand up to the evil we will continue to be abused. That's an old old song.

There is no doubt that Roman Catholic Charities do exceptional work. They were the first to take a stand against abortion and I really appreciate that. Southern Baptists were somewhat slow but many denominations support not only abortion but homosexual perversion.

I believe that one reason the RCC supports immigration is because it will increase the number of Roman Catholics in the country.

Certainly in Matt 10 "take up YOUR cross and follow me" has to do with the standing for truth though it is unpopular. Those Christians being killed and otherwise persecuted by ISIS - are indeed "taking up their cross".

What I want to know is how is it that the RCC can burn so many Protestants alive "infallibly" (supposedly) and then claim it is a crime against humanity when some muslims commit that same crime against humanity - without stopping to say "oh by the way folks - now that we see what it looks like to others -- sorry about that business in the dark ages".

They are already Roman Catholics Hubert. My Italian grandfather was an RC and a staunch Republican (Reagan was his president) so if you are suggesting that all RC's follow a leftist platform.... well you might want to reconsider.
