Heard a radio talk show host make the statement that he didnt believe in "organized religion". I have heard other folks make this type of statement in the past. Just what is organized religion? And what is the alternative? Unorganized religion? No religion at all?

ORgainzed religions is just that: organized religious institutions. Our religious institutions were not set up by God, they were set up by man. This doesn't make them bad, don't get me wrong. But there is no shourtage of people who think their churches are somehow the right hand of God. They're not. Our religious institution are simply tools that we, the body of Christ, utilize to worship and express our faith. The Holy Spirit is alive in the Church, not the church.

Thanks John. But what is a person saying when they say they dont believe in "organized religion"? They prefer it to be unorganized? Are they not really saying that they prefer not to attend any church at all? If a person says that they do not believe in organized religion then where do they worship? Even a Bible study can be considered a form of organized religion can't it?

What my husband means by it is that he ain't going to church. He has lots of reasons, but those are just excuses.

He won't tell me how he had rather worship.

Not believing in organized religion is just another excuse for being to lazy and ungrateful to go to church(if one is a believer). Or it is an excuse to keep on sinning if one is not a believer.

Everyone I have ever heard say that they dont believe in organized religion has used that as an excuse for not going to church. Many have said, "I can worship at home". But I seriously doubt that they do.

What it means is they were once part of a denomination or organized religion. The organized religion did something they didn't like. They reacted like a 2 year old and took all their marbles and went home to sulk. Then they came up with this idea that they would be independent of all the unwashed masses in the Church, and become better than the organized religion. And then finally, they become self righteous in their non-organized religion until they realize they are no better than the denomination they came from and become exactly what they despised before. Then, they realize that the Church is not perfect and neither are they, and maybe they need to go back and fellowship with their Christian brothers and sisters and perhaps, get rid of their self-righteous chip they have carried on their shoulders.

You are right, Joseph. THe ones I am thinking of had been either hurt, embarrassed or disgruntled at a church before.

BTW. The talk show host that said that was Neal Boortz for what its worth. It seems some pretty smart people can be really ignorant when it comes to things spiritual. The Bible says that God is not the author of confusion and although there are many different beliefs and denominations the Church is an organized institution.

I'm not sure that was the case with Martin Luther.

So many Baptist churches are the result of a split.
