Ah yes, I almost forgot about this! This weekend is the upcoming "Gay Weekend" at Disneyworld. This is always held on the first full weekend of June.

While there, participants are suppose to wear red shirts, in order to show who is gay and who is not. God protect you if you are wearing a red shirt, yet straight!

This started over 10 years ago and has grown since. At first, Disney resisted it, then they tolerated it, and now they accept it with open arms.

Sigh. I agree with SheEagle on this one. Come soon, Lord Jesus!

It used to be if the name "Disney" was on it, it was safe, not only for you, but for your children.

Disney became a bad word for me once Walt Disney died. They have become increasingly worse in their movies, sponsoring gay shows on TV, etc. ever since.

Walt Disney honored values and quality. The folks at Disney today honor only the almighty $$$.

Are you going to be at Disneyworld on Sunday? Just wondering, for it seems that this is what you saying. If so, then God bless you and may you be a good witness.

As for what the problem has been: back in the day when this all started, many straight men were genuinely shocked when their wearing of red shirts on this day ended up having them be propositioned! Apparently, they had no idea that this was Gay weekend at Disneyworld.

Oh cool! I think every Christian should wear a red shirt. The front should say "Ask Me", the back should say "Why I'm not gay".

Now I am truly shocked. Most pro sodomy types on this board have always preached about how gays are most often in faithful long term relationships and now I read that just because a guy is wearing a red shirt they can be targeted. Sounds like what will happen if you wave a red flag in front of a bull.

 

I think it's been more that many gay people do get in faithful, long term relationships, but I don't think it's been said that it's a higher percentage than of straight people. Straight people proposition each other, too, and that doesn't mean those doing the propositioning are being unfaithful to a mate - single people are everywhere.

Besides that, I wonder here what is meant by "propositioned." Is that a generic term being used instead of "hit on" or "flirted with" or are we to believe that every straight man in a red shirt that was approached was asked for sex? I'm inclined to believe the former.

But anyway, I see no problem with the shirt thing, although I've not heard it before. With large groups it's common to choose a common color for people to wear, so they know who's in the group. I've been on church trips and day camp excursions where we were all asked to wear a certain color . . . But I'll ask my friend who's actually going to be there about the red shirt thing.

 

I thought the vogue "secret code color" was purple, remembering the teletubby controversy.

Hard to keep up with all this stuff, though.

 

Okay, I talked to my friend, and he said red just "became" the color, based on the fact that when the first group went, they all agreed to wear red shirts so they could find each other. Red is only a recent fashion color phenomenon - not to say you couldn't find it, of course, but the clothing market wasn't as saturated with it as it is now.

Apparantly, Disney offers disgruntled guests a free pass to another of their parks, and has offered people upset because they happened to wera a red shirt and don't want to be at all associated with the gay crowd a free shirt (the first time, they gave away shirts off their sales racks, but after that they brought out their old overstock). I don't know if either of those policies is official, though.

 

Oh, wow. Thanks for finding that out. So maybe it's safe to wear purple (my favorite color). Guess I'll put the "red" away for now (in lieu of my spiked hair) lest someone should get the wrong vibes about me.

The thing about Gay Day is that it isn't a real organized event. It started with just a small group, then just expanded, but still isn't an officially sponsored day. There are sponsored events, but the day itself doesn't have an umbrella organizer. Hence the "it just became the color of choice." I think the first "official" t-shirt made was red, which only cemented that color choice.
