Paganism, Witchcraft on Rise in UK

It is also very much on the rise here in the USA.

And why not? Paganism and witchcraft are very attractive, especially in this day and age. You can get what you want, and on your own terms. It is all very selfish.

Christianity, however, is submission to the will of God. You may not always get what you want, but you trust that God is watching out for you and will give you all that you truly need.

As for the negative aspects of the human nature, paganism will celebrate them, all with that mantra, "as it harm none, do what you will." Never mind that anyone can justify their actions and twist them in order to fit that.

Christianity, however, lays it all out very specifically, and will not allow one to indulge in our human weaknesses. We are called to be higher than that.

And finally, paganism is popular because they can play the victim card perfectly. They are all loving, inclusive, and tolerant, while we Christians are portrayed as intolerant, hate-filled fundamentalists.

So can anyone not see why wicca and goddess worship is all the rage now? Come soon, Lord Jesus.

I don't think one can blame Harry Potter. Children for decades have enjoyed stories like L. Frank Baum's "Wizard of Oz" books, stories like "Snow White & The Seven Dwarves", "Hansel & Gretel" and others with witches. The Oz books even had "good witches". I believe it is mere fantasy. Most of us "Boomers" were raised reading these stories, and I don't think it did one bit of harm. And what about others of our childhood that included:

* Bewitched (ABC TV)
* Wendy the Good Little Witch (cartoons & comics)
* I Dream of Jeannie (Magic...OH NO)
* Casper the Friendly Ghost (Uh oh...Spiritualism)
* Fantasia (Mickey Mouse as a Wizard!)
* Dracula, Frankenstein & Wolfman
* Don't forget the magic of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy!

Some churches have held Potter book burnings, which is so extreme that it reeks of the Third Reich's tactics. If Harry Potter gets kids interested in reading and off the computer, video games and TV for a few minutes, I think this is positive.

A little magical fantasy is a good part of childhood. The seriousness of life sets in all too soon.

 

You are right life get's serious real quick, it's great for children to have an entry into the occult so they can seek help from lifes problems. Thanks harry

 

Maybe this didn't come from Harry Potter. Maybe Harry Potter came from this!!! Just one more way to promote witchcraft and get it in the hands of the vulnerable young and unsuspecting parents.

Children are blessings from God and our responsibility.

You are certainly free to disagree with me, but why the sarcasm? Why not address my point about the things we grew up with and how they did not cause us to become occultic? I would like to hear your opinion on that.

On another point, I think that there may also be an interest in nature-based religions in the UK because some see it as a cultural heritage. Stonehenge, druids, celtic religions, etc. are a part of the history of the British Isles. I don't have any facts to back this up, but it is my suspicion.

Sue, you very well be correct. The Potter books could be a reflection of society rather than a cause. Or there could be no connection at all. Either way, I think they are harmless fiction. The kids seem to be able to discern the difference between fiction and non-fiction better than many adults.
