How Bush Brewed the Iran Crisis

    By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS

Why did the Bush regime create a crisis over Iran?

The answer is that the Bush regime is desperate to widen the war in the Middle East.

What has Iran done? Unlike Israel, Pakistan and India, countries that developed nuclear weapons on the sly, Iran signed the non-proliferation treaty. Countries that sign this treaty have the right to develop nuclear energy. The International Atomic Energy Agency monitors their energy programs to guard against the programs being used to cloak a weapons program. Until the Bush regime provoked a crisis, Iran was cooperating with the inspection safeguards. The weapons inspectors have found no Iranian weapons programs.

There is no evidence for the Bush regime's accusation that Iran is developing nuclear weapons. What the Bush regime is trying to do is to unilaterally take away Iran's right under the non-proliferation treaty to develop nuclear energy. It is the Bush regime that is violating the treaty by attempting to deny its benefits to Iran. The Bush regime is acting illegally because of its paranoid suspicion that 5 or 10 years in the future Iran will use what it has managed to learn about uranium enrichment to develop a weapons program.

Why is the Bush regime concerned about what Iran might do in the future? Is it because the US government intends to continue its bullying in the MIddle East and is worried that Iran will get tired of it and develop nuclear weapons as a check on US hegemony over the Muslim world? Why does the Bush regime think that its interest in the Middle East takes priority over the interests of the countries that are located there?

In a CNN TV interview on Sunday May 21, the Israeli prime minister, Ehud Olmert, said that it was only a matter of months before Iran would be making nuclear weapons.

Olmert's claim is absurd as every weapons expert knows, and, indeed, as he knows himself. The only possible purpose of such a nonsensical claim is propaganda. Olmert is helping the Bush regime use fear to prepare Americans to accept an attack on Iran, just as Dick Cheney and Condi Rice invoked images of mushroom clouds to prepare Americans for the illegal invasion of Iraq.

What is absurd is to suggest that Bush "created" the Iran crisis.

This article is pure propaganda. Plain and simple.

Alexander Cockburn (pronounced Coburn) is a speaker for scientology, is an avowed athiest, he is a Stalinist per columnist George Wills, and he is not American he is from Ireland and as far as I know maintains his citizenship there.

He plain and simple a man who has learned to make millions by proclaiming that everything a conspiracy and everyone an idiot except himself of course. Of course that is his arrogant opinion of himself.

Craig Roberts is no different in fact he is cockburns brother in law I believe. The same Craig Roberts who reported that it was George Bush's fault we lost New Orleans (go figure).

If this guy was right the natinal media would be all over him because he is anti Bush and so are the mainline media's.

    Get a life Poncho

    Good article Poncho.
I do believe that Bush has over-extended us on crises, if it weren't for the way he sold the Iragi war the American public might buy into more of the same fear mongering but at this point in Bush's administration I think the American public has become somewhat apprhensive about accepting his word.

    "Fear Mongering"

Liberal terminology used to demonize those who wish to reroute resources that could otherwise be used to further the communist agenda.

Bush sold the Iraq war the same way the british intelligence did, the russian intelligence did, and in fact a large part of the international community.

When we went in to iraq in the 90s' Saddam was further along with his programs than we thought. So let us al be a little fearful.

Wouldn't think it by looking around here most days Rocko. ;)

Notice the same old tired standard defenses? For instance...

The standard "He's a radical nutcase" defense. Not a word about the issue at hand of course. This is the same ploy the MSM used to get around Charlie Sheens questions about 911, they never responded to the actual questions or talked about the issues just hammered on Charlie and his "reckless past". Never a mention of NORAD standing down, the Bin Ladens being flown out when there was a ban on all flights, the FBI's investigations being obstructed, the insider trading, building 7, etc., etc.

This next one is kinda cool...

Just a guess but you didn't get that definition out of Webter's 1828 dictionary, right?

That's not to hard to figure out, considering that the globalists created British and American intelligence with a little help from their buddies in Skull & Bones (industrialists, international bankers, opium lords and the like) and the "international community" is a euphemism for the "new international order" or just the NWO for short. So, yeah you correctly identified the who and the how of it. Now add the why and you might get the correct sum. ;)

But why stop history there? How about going further back to how Saddam was created in the first place? Who was there? British and American intelligence, go back to what was it 1953 and who was there overthrowing Iran's government? Yep you guessed it same guys British and American intelligence again.
