This article contrasts the differences of the parties. Dem's want to raise taxes while the GOP wants to cut education, mental health services and children's health care. I don't think anyone minds the GOP philosophy but it seems they choose sensitive areas which contains societies weak when they swing the axe. Why don't they start with cutting each of their office/staff budgets, reduce government office space or turn off every other light in the hallways and vending machines? They can cut out the subsidies to large corporations as well as sales tax exemptions and income tax credits.
Why must they pick on the defenseless children then call themselves the pro-life party? What does pro-life mean, we'll make sure you're born but don't care about the quality of life?

But the Democrats' latest plan failed to garner the required two-thirds majority support as partisan bickering over tax increases continued and Republicans refused to approve taxes.
The moves came one day after Republicans, who had come under fire for not producing a budget plan of their own, unveiled a $22 billion proposal that would avoid raising taxes. Their plan would cut deeply into education spending and dip into voter-approved funds set aside for mental health services and children's health care.
