Pasror talking to another church????

    Could some pastors (or those that have been or search committies) give me some advice regarding talking to another church. This church I'm talking to has 4 people they are looking at and putting those 4 people through each process. Example, phone interview, coming up to meet and talk with them, questioniar, and then they are going to hear each of the four preach.
    Question: Is this the normal process, to put 4 candidates through such a process. Or is is the normal to deal with just one at a time. Or are both ways used.

    In IFB circles, it is normally 1 person at a time. However, that isn't always the case. I personally don't care for the idea of 4 at a time because it becomes a popularity contest, versus finding the Lords will.

    Is this church in Florida by chance?

    It is done in different ways by different churches. However I would say that one person at a time is the best way. Otherwise it becomes a horse and pony show of comparing and contrasting instead of truly seeking the Lord's person for the position.

    This is common although not the best way IMHO. It seems less like seeking God's will and more like a beauty contest.


    And I never did look good in a swimsuit.
