Passing Over Long Winded Posts

I am new to the forum and probably should not mention the very long winded posts and whenever I see one I just pass it buy
but I just did . There is a recent post concerning Pre Tribulation Rapture and I love to discuss the book of Revelation
but some of the replies and posts go on and on with verses trying to prove their belief is the correct way , ( but not to
worry for every verse someone sites another forum member can give two more versus to counter your's ), I am sure of that .
Should there be a limit on how many words to a post ?
I am interested in what everyone has to say but just cannot get through some of these long winded posts . Thanks

This site is 24 years old and there have never been limits to words in a post.

Do what I do. Skip the posts where people just like to hear themselves talk, spout off out-of-context scripture, and who say the same thing over and over again just to "BE RIGHT" in their own minds.

Just move on.

See, you just said in one sentence what took me an entire paragraph to state , well done , I am a windbag compared to you I guess .
I am interested in everyones thoughts and opinions , all have some merritt , I am just asking for a little help here so we can read other posters thoughts in their posts without having our eyes glaze over with a long diatribe of words , we all can work on being more concise with our thoughts in the written word . Thanks

"Brevity is the soul of wit", similar to the brevity of scripture. Some folks can't help but to bloviate and pontificate, I suppose they're like that in real life.

Just make your points, one at a time, and move on with it.

ky, if posting a long post make one a wit, does cutting it in half make one a half wit?

I also ignore long winded poats....unless I wrote them ;-). I don't think a word limit is helpful as some may enjoy reading the ramblings of others.

Sometimes members post very long quotes....I mean pages of references. Those get ignored as well.

Proficient writing includes being able to convey an idea with as few words as possible.

Hi Bradford,

Some posters post long and repetitive posts to bury the topic in an avalanche of verbiage.

But another systemic problem is that some posters do not start their posts with a short statement of their position. They post scripture but never say why their interpretation supports their (implied) view.

The old - Tell em what you are going to tell em, tell em, then tell em what you told them - seems a lost art. :)
