I saw him on TV the other day arguing with someone (I know that Mr Buchanan engaged in an arguement is a shock, but . . . ).

My first thought was that he'd aged. I also had a hard time understanding him, but that could have been due to other things. I'm not sure he's got one left in him.

I have a lot of respect for his knowlege as it pertains to future events. He nailed the illegal alien thing years before it was an issue. He knows we are totally wrong on the war on terror now also. We aren't tough enough and did not/are not standing by Israel in her war in Lebanon.

Alas he's as controversial and would divide as President Bush has.

Have voted for him twice in the primaries

Well I have voted for him twice in the previous primaries but I don't he has another run in him nor the backing of his fellow Conservatives.

Mr. Pat is anti-semitic. He would never want to stand by Israel.

Buchanan once referred to Capitol Hill as "Israeli-held territory."

Not a big fan of Israel.

I see your point, but I'm refering to our not becoming involved in Israel's invasion, as I certainly think we should have been. We've sent a terrible message to terrorists with our hands off stance.

Considering all of the military supplies and equipment and bombs that we have given or sold to Israel I don't think we can be characterized as having a hands off stance. Israel wouldn't exist today without the help of the United States.

Then you must not believe that God is/has been watching over Israel.

And when Israel went after Lebanon, we should have been there with guns blazing. I believe that indiscretion to have been a turning point that decides once and for all that we have decided not to conquer terrorism. GWB had and still has full intent, but the nation has succumbed to the leftist campaign to get GW any way possible. He's a Christian, after all.

Did you know that approximately 40% of the Lebanese people are Christian and that the Israelis trashed the churches there?

He's a Christian as most the people in the US are and as every president before him has been (if you consider Unitarians and Catholics and whatever it was that Jefferson was to be Christian). I don't follow the logic in your post.

    1. God is / has been watching over the whole world and has extended a certain measure of common grace to all of creation. His saving grace has been extended to his elect, which is the Church.

    2. The Olmert government is a weak liberal government who never had any intention of defeating Hezbollah. That is why it is only a matter of time before they are in full blown war again, and the casualties will be even greater next time for both sides. Even if America had been there with guns a blazing, it would not have changed the outcome one bit.

    3. I am beginning to believe that Bush, not the nation as a whole, does not have the will to win the war against terror. He is too busy playing politically correct paddy cakes social liberal experiments to win the war. The majority of Americans would like to see us go in with decisive force and bring this war to a conclusion. Bush has refused to do so because he knows the human toll this would cause on innocent civilians. What Bush has forgotten is that war is not pleasant or desirable, but if you are gonna go to war, you should go in to win it. Olmert made the same mistake. The only difference between the two leaders is one caved sooner than the other.

    4. IMO, you are way too generous in your assessment of his spiritual condition. This is a man who says we all worship the same God as Muslims, Jews, Hindu...he is a we are the world, ecumenical, universalist. The best you could say about the man is that he has some Christian values and is a cultural "Christian". But, then again, even Gandhi had Christian values and John Kerry is a cultural "Christian".

    5. If Bush and Condi made any mistakes with Israel, it is the same stupid mistakes they always make by pressuring Israel to cave and relying too much on a worthless body like the UN to intervene and expecting France and other Europeans to go in and keep peace. What a joke.

Amen, preach it brother Joseph. I agree with all of your points except the first one, but you know that already.

I also agree with some of hill's points, namely, "
I see your point, but I'm refering to our not becoming involved in Israel's invasion, as I certainly think we should have been. We've sent a terrible message to terrorists with our hands off stance."

Condi Rice went over there to bring about this "cease fire" under the direction of her boss, GW Bush. The cease fire will not last, however, because the problem was not solved.

Also, Daisy, I would like to see some links about all these churches the Israelis supposedly trashed. If that information comes from Hezbollah sympathizers I would not be surprised. Their photos, etc., have been doctored and staged as the world now knows.

"But America's governing elite no longer goes to war to win. America has not won a war since September 1945, largely because U.S. politicians care more for what the world thinks of them than for protecting Americans. Our servicemen and servicewomen are sent overseas with rules of engagement that make them targets, not killers, and our enemies always survive to fight another day."

I have a feeling it's a very loosely defined "Christian population." (maybe 40% aren't muslim?) I'd like to see a source on that.

I'd also be interested in knowing about the trashing of churches. Sounds like propaganda that Hezbollah would put out.

Are Israelis capable of wrongdoing? Absolutely. But I seriously doubt that they desire our annihilation. I'm sure most of the Hezbollites do.

It would be hard to tell how big the Christian population is, since the last cenus was taken in 1932.

However on the web across several sources, it states that about 60% of the population is Muslim, and the other 40% is Christian. But again, they are going off of old numbers I believe.. It could be true, but there is no way of telling..
