I know this request is way too late but since I am teaching childrens church tomorrow I thought I would still give it a try.

My lesson tomorrow is on obedience and there was this song from Patch the Pirate titled, "Zip Your Lip". It was a great song with great words that talked about this very topic in a fun way.

If anyone happens to know all of the words to this song or where I can get them ASAP it would be greatly appreciated.

Wow...if you had posted this yesterday I would have been able to get these for you. We sell all the Patch music books at the Sword and I would have been able to look this one up for you.

A word of advice though...if anyone has these lyrics available do not post them on here because of the heavy copyrights on the Patch materials. I would suggest putting them in a PM to AF Guy.

I know of one Patch song called Obedience that I will be sending to you AF Guy. I remember it from when I was little and it is really cute.

Thanks. I hear that Patch the Pirate is going a little towards the contemporary side in regards to some of its music. Do you know anything about this?

We use to do them at our last church but now at our new church we do the Beacon Bible Club .

    Thanks again.

I had heard that a while back but have not heard any contemporary sounding music as of yet. I know many conservative churches continue to use them so I'm not sure how valid that rumor is. Only time will tell I guess.

I hope this isn't crossing the line into gossip, but wasn't there some sort of scandal surrounding this guy a couple of years ago?

I seem to remember some really heated threads here about him.

Yeah, but David Cloud seems to condemn everyone...

After you cry wolf so many times, you quit paying attention...

AFGuy--Try googling Majesty Music. Sorry I don't know the exact address.

As for Ron Hamilton using CCM--Now THAT'S funny! Whoever said that needs to actually listen to his latest stuff. There's absolutely nothing CCM about Patch the Pirate or anything I've ever purchased from Majest Music. In fact, my daughters always play a Ron Hamilton/Patch the Pirate CD at night to help them fall asleep!

I already did that but all I could find is a link to purchase the music. There were no places to listen or sample the music.

Yeah, I saw that article about Cloud and about that song, Lazy Bones.

I haven't heard anything bad about Ron Hamilton so if there has been something negative please show link.

My sentiments exactly, just tryin to be helpful.

I remember Ron from more than 20 years ago, have not seen him since then but seems he has stayed on the narrow path, so to speak.

    Ron Hamilton - CCM?!?!?!

I guess he a contemporary writing Christian music.

As to Cloud's article about the music "conjur[ing] up such unwholesome images as that of a saucy woman sauntering across a stage" (from link above) I would have to wonder what kind of Christian could possible have sensual thoughts listening to Ron Hamilton's music.

    Ron Hamilton - CCM?

That must be a joke of some sort.

I am not a big Ron Hamilton fan, but only by personal preference. His music has great lessons for children and adults. To attack him and cast warnings about his music epitomises all that is wrong with American fundamentalism.

I loved Ron Hamilton and all the Patch the Pirate characters growing up! I even played Tubby in my sixth grade play of Patch the Pirate and Camp Kookawaka (sp?). I think we did a Patch the Pirate play every year until jr. high at the christian school I attended in MD as a kid. It was the highlight of the year. The songs have stuck with me throughout the years. I told my four year old she had the poochie lip disease the other day. I cannot imagine anyone believing Ron Hamilton was CCM, nor for the life of me why listening to him would conjure the absurd images of Cloud's imagination.....

I guess that I must live on Mars. [IMG]

I've never heard of Ron Hamilton or Patch the Pirate.

But that "poochie lip disease" sounds pretty funny!

 I used to HATE when my mom would say that to me and my sisters, even worse was when she would sing it... IN PUBLIC!!!!!

I vowed to never use it with my kids, but I can't help it. My daughter stopped pouting, but then went and told daddy she was sick....Go figure.... :tonofbricks:

Actually, pretty much everything Ron Hamilton does is contemporary.

This neither makes his music right or wrong.
For that matter, Amazing Grace was once contemporary.

Personally I am not a huge fan of Majesty music, though we do use their hymnal at church.
I do hesitate to use many of the songs that he has written though because I find them comparatively weak next to such authors as Isaac Watts etc.

You may also say that he is a contemporary person writing in a traditional style, wrong again.
They have their own style and it is very contemporary.
Again, that doesn't make it wrong. Being contemporary is not what makes most modern music wrong.

The trend in modern music for the last 150 years or so has been a man-ward shift in the topic of music.
Many of Hamilton's songs have done nothing to stop this trend.

I remember seeing that David Cloud article a few years ago.

    What a joke.
That article shows the exact opposite of spiritual mindedness.
    That article IS worldly thinking.

Was his mind in the gutter to come up with stuff like that?

Don't put them in a PM to AFGuy. It is still a violation of copyright.
