Paul: Apostle of God's Glory in Christ

I checked out this book from my seminary library last week and have read about half of it (its almost 500 pages long). The author is Thomas R. Schreiner. The book is a biblical theology of Paul. It takes Pauline themes and traces them through his writings. Just to give you an idea, the themes I have read thus far include:

Proclaiming a Magnificent God: The Pauline mission

The basis of Mission: The fulfillment of the promise of Abraham

Suffering and the Pauline mission: The means of spreading the gospel. I might comment that this chapter was very intriguing. I had never thought of this aspect of Paul's ministry in the way Schreiner presents it.

Dishonoring God: The violation of God's law

Dishonoring God: The power of sin.

The Person of Jesus Christ: The exaltation of Christ for the glory of God. This chapter was excellent also.

And that's just half the book--actually less than half. For me, this book is a must buy. It is full of scripture and has an index of references in the back. It is a resource to be consulted in the future. After I exegete a passage, I will go to this book and read Schreiner's take on it to check myself. Schreiner is very gifted at interpreting a given passage and showing how his interpretation fits into the larger argument of the book.
