    PEACE

    Colossians 1:19-22 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
    And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
    And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
    In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

    The peace that Christ brought in is not physical peace among men, be they enemies, friends, or family. It is neither political, nor world peace. It is not a peaceful, easy feeling, knowing your bills are paid and your belly is full.

    The peace that Christ brought in is a perfect reconciliation between the inflexible justice of God and sinners, who merit nothing but eternal condemnation.

    Where the scripture says " the wages of sin is death", He died that death as the representative substitute of His elect. Death can no longer be required of them, for they are counted to have died in Him. As they have been crucified with Christ, by the decree of God, they live in Him.

    Where the scripture says, "there is none righteous", His righteousness is charged fully and freely to the account of those in whose stead He came and died. Not one charge can be brought against them, for any charge against them would be an indictment against Christ and His everlasting righteousness.

    This is the glorious heart of the gospel whereby God has reconciled Himself to sinners, who merit nothing in themselves but condemnation and death. Through Christ alone, God has satisfied His justice, for His glory alone.

    This is the perfect peace in which the elect of God rest. They ever and always look to the One who established this peace on their behalf and in their name. They place no confidence in their own works as making up any part of this reconciliation. They never look to their works as meriting any reward, for Christ is their exceeding great reward.

    This is the stench of death to those who see themselves as righteous in their own eyes, and think God is pleased with their religious doings, sincerity and tears. On the other hand, it is glorious good news to those whom God has shown their miserable condition in the face of Jesus Christ and the peace He alone has wrought in their place, in their stead and in their name.

    Isaiah 26:3-4 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
    Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

    Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
