    Nothing really new here. Most likely he does stay.

    However if that is true, why say things like "anticipate" and "if this happens, then..."???

    Why not just say " I am staying , case closed."

    I brought that up earlier. I agree with you. Perhaps it's a negotiating move. Perhaps you want to at least hear an offer. Perhaps it's just nothing more than Pearl saying less in the parsing of the words than what we think.
