Pebble polishing machine

    Does anyone know where I can get a table-top, electrical, pebble polishing machine. I am interested in doing this for a hobby, but so far, have been unable to get a machine.

    They have one at www.michaels.com Don't know if they ship outside the US, though

    Gwyneth, Nick wanted one of those a few years back but a friend through our home school group told me the rock polisher had to run for DAYS for a rock to be smooth and pretty and the noise just about drove their family crazy. I'd thought it'd be very interesting too until then. :eek:

    POF, they are very loud. My neighbor has one he uses in his shed. When the TV is off and you're going to bed. You can hear it.

    What in the world????? Go down to the ocean and collect pre-polished rocks for goodness sake! LOL I can't believe there's such a thing as a rock polishing machine. The ocean does a great job and it's free. ;)

    It doesn't necessarily have to run continuously, you can always turn it off when it is too much noise.

    I went to michaels.com and asked them if they would ship outside UK on 8th this month when Denise said about them..... they haven`t replied. :confused: :(

    We bought one for our daughter for Christmas this year. It is made by Smithsonian, and got it at WalMart. There are 3 polishing steps. It does take days to weeks for each step, but it is fun. As for the noise, we have it in the garage, attatched to the house and it was no big deal at night when we went to bed. Sorta a hum.

    I suppose it does sound a bit wierd, [​IMG]
    I do a lot of craft stuff, and want to frame mirrors/pictures etc. with the polished stones. Also I would like to put them in my aquarium, and around the edges of the fishpond, set in concrete ........... I know it will take ages .....but it should be great fun.

    My oldest brother got one of these when I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade. He put it in the undersink cabinet in the bathroom and put towels over it to muffle the noise. But, the rocks were very pretty once they were all polished up.

    If you turned it off at night, wouldn't it take longer to finish the job?

    I found on at www.creativecrafts.co.uk if you go to the site and do a search for a stone tumbler kit, it is £77.00. Would that be what you are looking for?

    I`ll go and have a look, thanx Sheila, I`m in the middle of a watercolour painting- seascape for a workmate. I`d better finish it tomorrow, as it`s getting late, going to see that machine now x
