I need to set the record straight about my position as a couple of members have made false accusations about my posts and my belief. I suspect the reason for their falseness is that they got carried away with their emotions and allowed themselves to believe I held positions I never claimed for myself (they allowed their emotions to override their integrity). I am not, therefore, saying that they deliberately lied, but rather they were careless.
Regardless, so as not to allow any misunderstandings, I will correct a few falsehoods directed at me.
1. I never said or believed that it did not please the Lord to crush Him (Jesus).
2. I never said or believed that the Penal Substitution Theory of Atonement amounts to "cosmic child abuse".
3. I never said or believed that Calvinists worship a different god.
4. I never said or believed that it is not by His stripes we are healed.
5. I never said or believed that God will not judge the wicked at Judgment.
6. I never said or believed that He who knew no sin was not made sin for us.
7. I never said or believed Jesus was not forsaken.
I do not believe the Penal Substitution Theory of Atonement is correct. But this can be argued without lying to "win" an argument.
This is a Christian board and Christians have disagreements. BUT Christians should have the integrity to face disagreements, debate issues, and argue their view with integrity.
So why do we see such a lack of integrity?
Here are a few possibilities:
1. Christians who lie about an opposing view may lack understanding and not realize the lie.
2. These may simply lack integrity.
3. They may just want to "win" an argument
4. They cannot defend their position against the opposing view so they misrepresent that view
Why this thread?
The reason is not only to address a few false claims about my posts but also to encourage members going forward to be more careful.
