We can find pictures of people protesting and advocating anything. That doesn't make them a serious threat.

 

Well they certainly take themselves seriously, as did the WTC hijackers.

And OT, can you imagine what would happen if you or I carried around signs in Saudi or Syria claiming that Christianity would dominate? Think we'd make it out alive?

But the US is not Saudi or Syria.

That makes all the difference in the world.

This picture looks like two guys on their own standing on a street corner exercising their freedom of speech. Should they not be permitted to do so?

 

I didn't suggest otherwise. On the other hand, if they got their b**ts kicked, it wouldn't bother me very much

 

Which is exactly what they would want - another "excuse" to respond.

They are doing no harm, they are counter protesting another march.

Would it be okay to stand there with a poster that says, "Christ Will Reign"?

If so, would a Muslim American citizen be justified in feeling the same way you do about them?

I thought we Americans treasured freedom of speech and did not just grudgingly accept it.

 

You are zealously in favor of protecting the rights of those who hate us, I will say that. It is very likely that those people are guests in our country. Suppose I went to Dublin, or Ulster as the case may be, and waved signs around insulting the Irish and their government. Do you not think that I'd get beat up at the very least? And do you think anyone would shed a tear over it? I think not.

 

People do that every weekend on the streets of Dublin and people recognise it as freedom of speech and go on their way.

There are contstantly 2-3 protesters outside the houses of parliament here crticising the government.

Freedom of speech is highly treasured here, something we Americans seem to be willing to sacrifice in the war on terror.

How do you know these two fellas are not citizens? This is still America, if called on I would die for these men to have the right to stage their little mini-protest.

 

It's a sign that terrorism is working, when we fear freedom of speech.
It's certainly worked how it should for me. I'd probably be too scared to stand across from those people and exercise my own freedom of speech. I'd be afraid that they might try to kill me.

I stand up for all American's 1st Amendment rights. whether they "hate us" or not.

If we only protect the freedoms of those who like "us" are they really freedoms? Even under the strictest totalitarian regime those who go along with the state have freedom. The true test of freedoms is if they survive when they stand in opposition to the state or the majority.

 

Perhaps if our country were not killing millions of babies and condoning immorality we could depend on the Lord to protect us.

However, two men standing on a corner is no evidence that the Muslims have won. Their goal of world domination has been around for centuries, everyone has known it for years.

Who is sacrificing free speech? Those men were protesting on a busy street, no one was molesting them, and they were in an area protected by police.

I do not know that those two fellas were not citizens. But there were, at last count, approximately 10.5 million legal permanent residents in the US, approximately 10 million undocumented residents in the US, 1.6 million legal temporary residents in the US, 10.3 million foreign-born naturalized Americans, plus many here on temporary student visas. Plus the fact that they were holding some type of foreign flag. So there is an excellent chance that these guys were not Americans. My point being, that if you are a guest in a foreign country, you try not to insult your hosts by saying that you will take over their country. What is so difficult about that?

Muslim protestors are constantly codemning Ireland for allowing Shannon airport to be used as a stopover for US military flights bound for Iraq.

I find it a little disturbing that some say because their skin is dark and they are protesting they must be foreigners. My skin is dark enough that if I grew a full beard and wore Arab garb at the same protest you would surely be convinced that I was an illegal.
