The world's largest provider of abortions has sunk to a new low. In a grotesque mangling of the Gospel story of Christ's birth, Planned Parenthood's 2002 holiday card proclaims "Choice on Earth." This is a repugnant mockery of the Christmas message of "Peace on Earth." To celebrate abortion at the season when Christians worldwide remember the birth of the Savior is just plain sick. Planned Parenthood is one of those leftist organizations that prattles endlessly about diversity and tolerance. Yet, here it deliberately mocks the faith of millions of Christians to score a cheap political point.

Yes, I saw Patricia Ireland on the Factor last night about this evil scheme. Pretty sick. I'd call her a cow, but it would be insulting to bovines.

If nothing else, it's good marketing. I don't really see it as mockery, though. Using a common phrase to their benefit? Sure. But not mockery. Eye of the beholder, I guess.

SheEagle, you just can't resist a good pot-shot, can you? Patricia Ireland is a very nice woman, warm and friendly, with a good sense of humor. Very intelligent, too. I looked for a transcript of the show at foxnews.com but couldn't find one. Any tips on where to look? I'd like to read it, if it's available.

    Moo.

Tolerance, unless it has to do with scriptural truth, diversity, unless you are separated from the world unto Christ.
Let them mock, If they are making fun of the truth then they have heard the truth and had to make a choice......As the Word says, Every knee shall bow to me and every tongue confess to God.

My favorite was when she said that she believed that if Jesus were here today, He'd be in favor of abortion.

    That was...interesting.

I wonder how Patricia Ireland would feel if her mother had chosen to abort her. :D

Not to make light of such a serious matter, but it kind of reminds me of the old joke about the people protesting the lack of money spent on AIDS research.

One young woman, overcome by the emotion of the moment, falls to her knees, reaches her hands to the sky and demands, "God! If you were really all loving, then why haven't you sent us someone with a cure for AIDS?"

Suddenly, a booming voice answers back, "I did, but you had him aborted!"

I heard it a little differently...

One young woman, overcome by the emotion of the moment, falls to her knees, reaches her hands to the sky and demands, "God! If you were really all loving, then why did you allow 9-11 to happen?"

Suddenly, a booming voice answers back, "Osama was suppose to be aborted, but they outlawed abortions in Saudi Arabia!"

    Equally a bad argument!

And post-it, I pray that God will someday give you some real understanding on this issue. And someday soon! You haven't got a clue!

It's quite ironic for PP to use a slogan that has its roots in the story of the birth of Christ, since if PP had been around then they would have encouraged un-wed Mary to have an abortion.

Um, has anyone ever really talked to people from Planned Parenthood? I've never met anyone from that organization or NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) who actually encourages anyone to have an abortion. I know it's very popular to say that they do encourage abortion, but it's not true. Unless, of course, you go with the idea that by making it avilable, they're encouraging it. Even so, that's not active encouragement, merely not discouragement. Making abortion available and working to keep it from becoming illegal are very very different from encouraging women to have abortions, or even thinking abortion is a good thing.

Statements like " . . . if PP had been around then they would have encouraged un-wed Mary to have an abortion," are intended to incite rumor and distrust. Dislike the organization till the cows come home, but at least be fair and accurate in your comments. They're not worth two matchsticks without honesty or accuracy.

And liberals are the ones accused of spreading such stuff. . .

I still haven't been able to find a transcript of the Patricia Ireland interview. I'm still looking, but if anyone has a shortcut and wants to share . . . .

    Here's "accuracy and honesty:"

    From their web sites:

Celebration of murder of the unborn? Don't encourage abortion? Yet they celebrated Jeffords switch so the Senate would be controlled by pro-aborts!

Please don't insult the intelligence of Bible Believing Christians (who believe in the sanctity of life) on this board with pro-abort propaganda! Their own web sites speak for themselves!

I could be wrong, but wasn't Ed Harris in a movie about a couple who were nearly destroyed by the grief caused by the loss of a child?

    Boy, there's irony for you.

As I said, ensuring the right to safe abortion isn't active encouragement of same. Being pro-choice isn't actively encouraging abortion. I realize that's a point of major contention. But, it's incredibly misleaing to suggest that any of these groups would have encouraged Mary to abort, or that they actively encourage anyone to abort.

I'm surprised that, you, Mike, would equate the pro-choice stance of such groups as being actively encouraging of abortions or celebration of the murder of the unborn. As I've said before, I can see how they could be considered the same, but they are not. And that's the understanding I'd discourage.

I don't know why the italics, as I would include myself as a Bible believing Christian of this board, as well.

I'm not in favor of abortion, but I gotta agree with Stubbornkelly here.

Um, has anyone ever really talked to people from Planned Parenthood?
PP is where my ex wife went to for birth control when we got married. There was nothing "pro" or "anti" abortion about it.

Whichever side of the fence you stand on, surely there is quite a difference between encouraging women to have abortions, and ensuring that they have the ability to do so safely if they choose to. Of course you're well within your rights to believe both are wrong, but they are not both the same thing.

    Dear Blush,
There is no such thing as a safe abortion. When an abortion is sceduled two people come in, the mommy and her child in her womb. After the abortion only mommy leaves, except without the baby that was alive in her womb. The baby gets murdered while the mommy was in the abortionists office.
