Plenty of Hurricane Blame to Go Around

The posted article raises a lot of good questions. I understand that the police and firemen had homes and families to take care of and can't really fault them for running out on their jobs. However, it looks like the city could have offered to relocate families of essential public servants, in advance of the storm, in order to reassure them of their families' safety and allow them to function with at least a bit of peace of mind.

I don't like being a Monday morning quarter back, but it seems that a play book should have been on hand and its' plays well rehearsed prior to the "big one" which everyone in the "Big Easy" knew was going to come sooner or later.

I wonder what kind of outcome there would be from another government investigation of itself. We found a few bad apples and promoted them. Oh, and BTW, we need more funding and more laws to control the civilians. That'd be my guess anyhow.

Yes Squire it is of the magnitude of a Pearl Harbor I don't think it has fully set in yet.

The whole world is watching the last Super Power
on the block and how it was humbled by an act of

And we do need to learn ..we were under the impression that a Homeland security would be
a lean and mean machine to be able to quick respond in this style of disaster and a terror
strike...now their are more questions because of
the abysmal failure of FEMA under the Homeland
Security umbrella.

I am for a 9/11 style commission that will investigate and be given power to implement ideas.

 

Another government investigation of itself is going to come to the same ole conclusion. Oops, we made a few mistakes and the answer to all the problems is for you to give up more liberty, accept more federal control over your lives and we need billions more tax dollars.

Individually we may learn from our mistakes but the government consistantly profits from theirs in both more money and more control over individuals.

 

The Bush ****** can dump on Bush all they want, and they will since they get an ****** thrill by doing so, but the fact remains Coast Guard helicopters were there on Tuesday rescuing those left behind by the "long gone mayor" while hundreds of buses set idle in a parking lot.

There were relief supplies moved to the affected states before Katrina struck but in Louisana the governor kept these from being delivered to those in need.

 

If you count available city buses as well as school buses there was nearly a thousand of them. So they were not used or even moved. People damaged the inside of the Superdome. That has to be paid for. Even worse yet they're going to have to buy new buses. Local incompentance.

 

No problem, I hear ya, just with all the speculations lately just thought a little bible injected might help. I was just saying that nature is curse since the garden and it is the sin of all mankind that causes nature to act like it does now. There will come a day when the lamb and the lion will once again be at peace and nature will not strike out as it does now.
Simply put we are all sinners and the blame goes on us not just one city. I might buy that if LA dropps off into the sea and Las Vegas gets swallowed up by a sandstorm, Hollywood gets wiped off the map ...but until then I am not jumping on the bandwagon of God punishing N.O. just for thier sins.

issue has already been knocked down ...first
responders were literally flooded and swamped you
can have all the buses in the world but if you
do not have the drivers then the buses sit.

What NOLA needed was the cavalry coming from the outside and that cavalry failed them which equates
to the same people who promised to protect us
from terrorist...Bush,Brown,and Chertoff.
