Political Blasphemy

I was listening to the president of the Heritage Foundation, a chief "conservative" think tank, this morning. And to boil it down to what I understood him to be saying, it was so sad to hear that the Heritage Foundation, as well as MAGA and "Trumpism", reject conservatism - which means that they reject RONALD REAGAN, they reject BARRY GOLDWATER. Which means that the "conservatism" of the Republican Party and MAGA and Donald Trump rejects what Ronald Reagan said when he was running for president in 1980, when he said that the very heart of conservatism is libertarianism(limited government). To put it really simply - in 2024, the "conservatism" of the GOP and MAGA and Donald Trump has no interest in economic freedom, no interest in individual freedom, no interest in small, limited government. Which means that the "conservatism" of the GOP and MAGA and Donald Trump is NO DIFFERENT than those philosophies they rail against - liberalism, socialism, communism - in that they want government to be HUGE, just like those folks that they rail against; they just want to use Leviathan in different ways, but growing and wielding Leviathan is their goal.

So, if you support the Republican Party and its candidates, please have the decency to NOT call yourself a "conservative". If you do so, then you are committing political BLASPHEMY.

And you take what you heard from Heritage as gospel? I was always a donor to Heritage until they betrayed me years ago. Don’t assume to judge the beliefs of others, it makes you look bad.

Oh, don't mind me. I was just venting over Trumpism replacing Reaganism.

Are you suggesting that someone should support the Democrat party and its candidates including Joe Biden in order to be a "conservative"?

No. I just like the old-time conservatism that was more in line with my minarchist libertarian political beliefs.

The current Republican Party supports the false religion of Christian Nationalism. The Heritage Society as well as most of the Southern baptist Convention are pushing this
for political gain.

What utter nonsense.

Look at the economy under Trump, and our economy now.

Trump supports gun rights, democrats do not. Who is against our rights?

Democrats shut down the country during covid. Who is against our rights?

Democrats are trying to force electric vehicles on us. Who is against our rights?

Republicans support the right to life, democrats do not. Who is against this basic right?

Perhaps you are okay with the way things are going under democrat rule, I am not. While I do not consider myself a supporter of the Republican party, or Trump, for that matter, as long as they maintain those views that in fact support our rights, not only as Americans, but as Christians, then I will vote Republican.

We will see just how corrupt Democrats have become in this election. I have no doubt there was corruption in the last tally of votes. Let's see if they are brazen enough to do it again.

And I do call myself a conservative. The fact that I don't have an ideal candidate to vote for is irrelevant.

God bless.

BTW, it was Heritage Foundation that is RESPONSIBLE for Project 2025. I don’t see them clarifying that it is from them, they just let Trump take all the blowback for something he had nothing to do with. Friend or foe? They too try to claim being the conservative voice. Fair weather friend-best case scenario. Not trustworthy. Infested. That is all.

I agree that the GOP today, like the DNC today, is not the same as it was 50 years ago.

I don't think, however, that the difference is government (at least at a federal level).

Government is much different on the federal level in 2024 compared to Reagan's administration. The Congress has transferred so much of its power to rule to the executive branch(especially during the 21st century) that it has made the presidency and its administrative apparatus into a political Leviathan.

True. And states have sold much of their power to the federal government.
