    Politics and veterans.

    For those that noticed my poll for veteran's day.

    I am giving you a different one for voicing your political angst (anger).

    For those that have NOT noticed, some veterans are very opinionated . . . guilty . . .

    For those that have not served, I will try to help you out a little bit.

    Imagine that you are 16 and in a strange town. You turn down a one way street the wrong way - but, you think you are going the right way. You get pulled over, you think that this will be easy. And the next thing you know you are outside of the car on the ground in cuffs and being yelled at . . .

    Yes, the service of our country can be that stressful. Even in the Air Force.

    Try going to war in the name of your country and returning wounded. Your home country treats you like dirt and one must fight for every ounce of support. I saw this with returning service people from WW2 and my own men from Korea. SHame. Shame on the countries. It is a wonder they have any volunteers at all.

    Try being 18 and going off to war in a strange environment without being issued the needed body armor or helmets or uparmored vehicles to protect you from IUDs and the enemy....SHAME!

    I would vote yes, but I can't vote in your poll.

    I don't think they have earned the right of political views any more so than anyone else that has a view.

    I do think they have earned our respect and gratitute, but having a political view is a right everyone has.

    My appreciation for your thank you's is noted.

    I do not look for thanks. I grew up with responsibility to King and country, and signed up in 1950 out of duty and as the oldest son in my family.

    My concern is not with the people, but with the politicians who make servicepeople fight again at home when they were injured in uniform and out of country. I see the same in most of the countries.

    I did.

    Didn't think a thing about it. That's just the way it was. Except for the hemet. It was available but rarely worn in my unit.

    got the idea yet . . .
    WW1
    WW2
    Korean Conflict
    Suez Canal
    Vietnam
    Lebanon
    Iran
    Grenada
    Panama
    GW1
    GW2

    Our troops have projected often and regularly . . .

    . . . when the president wants to send his very best regards any where in the world in 24 hours or less, he does not all UPS . . . He calls Bragg . . . 'home of the airborne - ooh ah" . . .

    And there have been many unprepared 18 year olds in those 'force projections'

    Freedom has never been cheap and it is not free.

    Yes, they need better gear. Yet, they have the best that we have ever had. And would have had much better had spending not been cut hundreds of times. But, that is a different thread.
