Who has the best pizza?

My favorite Pizza was Shakeys as a kid, but I think the only ones left are in the West as most of the others have shut down. So I guess it couldn't have been that good to others.

Godfathers was the best when I lived in Chattanooga. But right now the best pizza around is the large pepperoni pizza you can buy at WalMart for $8. Pop it into the oven for 10 minutes and it's done. (sorry for the hijack)

The best I have had is at a local joint called Painturo's Pizza. I get the white pizza. Tell me if this description from the website doesn't make you absolutely drool!

WHITE PIZZA
A combination of premium white cheeses, creamy buttery garlic sauce, our own
blend of spices and mushroom. Go ahead…add the chicken!

And I do add the chicken. I also add the lid....more dough on top brushed with a buttery garlic sauce and it is baked to a golden brown.... YUMM-O!

Check out the menu at www.painturos.com

My fave is Papa Johns thin veggie. Followed by Pizza Hut personal pan veggie.

The best I have ever had was my best friend's homemade creation. (But it may have been the company I was keeping at the time. Good memories.)

I used to really like Little Caesar's but we dont have any of those around here.

But truthfully, is there such a thing as bad pizza?

I have three pizza suppliers I like depending on the thickness of my wallet.
Pizza just to have pizza- Costco
Fresh take and bake (made up while you watch and baked at home)- Papa Murphy's
Sit down and eat- Straw Hat

Most of the chains qualify as bad pizza (at least not good pizza). I normally prefer the local spots. The prices may be a little higher, but the pizza is much better. Plus, I prefer to go to family-owned places rather than the big chains.

We only have Domino's here, so we've become hooked on that. I used to get Little Caesars, because they had some really good deals. The store bought one is terrible. Honestly, if they had put all the toppings on the cardboard the frozen pizza came with, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

love,

OK - I'm from NY. Chains have BAD pizza! There are a few great places around here but they are little hole in the wall places and the pizza is awesome.

I've not had good pizza outside NY except right at the dock in Naples Florida - where a NYer opened a pizza place.

Right now our favorite pizza is either Nina's or D'Raimos. Both are a little different but awesome.

I voted Godfathers from the chains in the poll.

My true favs? A tie:

"Mama Rosa's" from my hometown (Dothan AL). Little Italian woman sure made a mean pizza! If I had not played 4 sports in high school, she would have put 100 extra pounds on me for sure.

New York Pizza, Homewood AL. A good...well.....New York style pizza.

Right, because nobody knows good pizza except New Yorkers? I think we have a pizza snob among us. Just, uh, back away from the thread slowly, annsni, and nobody's gonna get hurt.

I voted Padre Juan as the best.

No, despite what annsni and other pizza snobs will say, there is no such thing as bad pizza.

Except maybe vegan pizza, which just sounds revolting, doesn't it?

Oh, and Hawaiian pizza, described by one writer, known by the nickname sars, as, "that miscarriage of portable cuisine..." Pineapple on pizza? I mean, come on.

Um, what's that you say? I said others were a pizza snob, but you think I'm one, too? Hmm...

Possibly.

talking about bad pizza (or maybe we just didn't know any better back then), anybody remember Appian Way boxed pizza mix from the grocery store? Surely if you grew up in the 60's or even the 70's, you probably had parents who made it at least a couple of times, or maybe more than a couple of times (If not that, then how about the boxed Chef Boy Ar Dee pizza mix)

The best pizza is always the little mom and pop italian ones. Locally we have Cala's and Primozz that blow any of the ones in the poll away.

Freshcetta has a thin crust we are really into at the moment...

but from the choices, I will have to pick the Hut based on consistency and reliability with a hint of variety. (if there is a good dominos though, that can do the thin crust... that is my fav)

We went to Little Caesar's this Sunday after service.

Best pizza has to do with how you like it. I like a thick crust (not pan) with pep, saus and XXXtra cheese. We have one place that will make me a sloppy mess of a pizza I love but I can't anyone to eat it with me. So I go with pizza Hut, cheese lovers pizza with pep and saus...
