I think Iran is going to end up shooting itself in the foot. There are Arab countries like Jordan who are having a difficult enough time recognizing the State of Israel, and maintaining relations with them. Eventually these Arab countries are going to get to a point where they're going to be forced to tell Iraq to blow off. While I'd love to give Iran a good swift kick inthe pants, my fear is that expelling Iran from the UN would make Iran a sympathetic martyr to Arab states.

Better to allow them to remain, so their foolishness can be witnessed in full view.

Well it’s a bit difficult to have a relation with a country you do not recognize.

Unfortunately Johnv your answer of “No action should be taken” does not surprise me. In your mind… what needs to happen in order for any action to be taken against a blatantly hostile country such as Iran who seeks to eliminate an entire people? Will it be the pile of dead Israelis and Americans to convince you otherwise? Seriously what will it take?

Their foolishness has and is being witnessed by the entire world in full view. Disappointing as it may be its people like you with the “No action should be taken” opinion that allow this type of transparently heinous position to continue.

You might want to check your facts. Israel is recognized by, and has full diplomatic relations with, Jordan, as well as Egypt and Mauritania. That doesn't of course, excuse, the overall anti-Isreili attitude of Arabs overall, and doesn't downplay the fact that these countries need to do more to strengthen relations with Irael.

I haven't voted yet. I'm leaning towards suspension, but am as yet undecided. You judge me too harshly, methinks.

The UN will never expel Iran because the UN hates Israel and the UN is corrupt. The UN actually hates the US, too, if the truth be told. I don't believe the UN has ever recognized the State of Israel, anyway, but I could be wrong about that one.

    HUH? Doublespeak, anyone?

Which is it - are they having a difficult time recognizing or do they recognize?

I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

I am not trying to disagree, but I see what Johnv is saying. Israel is recognized by, and does have full diplomatic relations with Jordan; but on the other hand, this makes it difficult for Jordan when dealing with the other Arab states.

</font>[/QUOTE]Let me break it down for you Johnv, I will make it easy and use your exact words.
Thus where my comment came from
Whether or not you actually voted you said:
Which concludes no action let them remain. Let them remain and suspend them do not mean the same thing, surely you must know this. Methinks you should read what you post. [IMG]

Is this your way of evading the question?

LadyEagle I have similar feelings towards the United Nations. On paper the UN did recognize Israel in 1948. My poll is directed more towards what we would like to see accomplished, not what we think the UN will actually do. How can we forget the campaign financing of the “Gaza today, the West Bank tomorrow” Palestinian propaganda with the United Nations logo on the back. :(

    Me too. [IMG]

I blame Bush - not for this - but none of the other choices were good. Action should be taken against Iran (who are not Arabs and do not speak Arabic), but if they are kicked out of the UN then they would no longer be subject to UN rules & sanctions.

We could let Israel have access to Iran through Iraqi airspace and stand back and watch the fun. :D

Daisy the “I blame President Bush” option was more of a Cindy Sheehan type response and was added for humor. I appreciate that fact that you openly shared your vote. [IMG] Even though you said it was not your answer.
Since you gave us an incorrect poll response and totally messed up my poll. ;) [IMG] Would you be interested in elaborating on what action should be taken and when?

For you others who chose “I blame President Bush” I would love to hear your answers of why??? Being the fact the Iran has held this position for the last 25 years; they hold an annual protest against Israel and her destruction. It’s not new information to Israel, although Israel is delighted to see such a quick response by the world community to an ongoing struggle. How old would that make President Bush anyway???

I sure hope this was a mistake of “Ooops I clicked the wrong button”, if not will the anti-Semite come forward who agrees with Iran. It’s ok if you don’t, you can hide in your dark corner like a little rat. [IMG]

It's pretty foolish of Iran to be talking lunacy like this when you lay all the cards out.

I don't think that Iran should be expelled from the UN. The UN should be open to all nations.
