I don't think there is a more influential leader in the world of religion than a pope. It is most likely that it will be a pope who ushers in the "one world religion" as prophesied in the scripture. The only way this can happen is if the RCC officially declares that all who believe in God are one in the same justified before God. If this is not the pope for this prophecy, he is at least laying some ground for the future popes.

I'm not shocked, and I'm not appalled, It is both exciting and dreadful, exciting that the Lord is coming soon, but dreadful that so many must perish.

He is basically teaching that Christ is only one way God has provided. Maybe he should meet with the pope, eventually all these types will come together and support the "everybody's religion is basically ok" lies that will form the new world religion.

The Pope's message to atheists and to the gay groups is being promoted as Papal compromise with the world. He has an obligation to clarify his own public statements if he does not believe them as stated in the press.

Hopefully (no matter how well intended) he is not trying to give atheists and gays encouragement/reason/excuse to stay in sin and reject the Gospel. So he needs to choose between political correctness and the Gospel in his message.

The catholic church one taught, up until Vatican 2, that NONE but Catholiocs went to heaven, butt since then, have stated that God willl save sincere followers of other faiths, as they are obedient to wht they know, and they would have no doubt become catholic if they knew their doctrine!

He just expanded tht to include athiests who do good, and have acts of charity, as they would also follow Rome if but they knew!

Also, he said, as is common sense, that even atheists, everyone can do charitable works. He said lets meet in a spirit if sacrificial giving, commonality, however limited, and move on from there.

Obviously some of my Protestant friends on this board have an agenda against the Church and refuse to accept the explanation given of what the media has twisted to make it sound like the pope is promoting universalism. He is not and has not altered the teaching of the Church one iota.

the RCC teaches that God will accept as saving faith any who have a sincere devotion to their faith, as God accepts them based upon the light they had, and assumes they would have received the RCC teachings if they but just knew them!

It is really not that much different than what the Catechism has maintained about Muslims (a religion that I believe was inspired by Satan himself). It says that Muslims also are saved. So there really is not much difference.

the RCC sees both jewish and Muslims as being "people of the Book/worshipping same God", but that is not biblical as while jews lnow about the true God, but not know Him in a saving/personal fashion, but the Muslims don't even worship the same God as Christians and jews, but satan!
