    John 13.2.27
    27. And after the morsel Satan then entered into him. Jesus said to him, 'What you do, do quickly.' (Luke 22.3).

This is very interesting how Satan entering people and resides in them.

In this example Satan entered Judas only after Jesus gave him the morsel. It seems that when Satan enters someone it is impossible to resist him, and Satan takes full control of a person.

Perhaps if Judas will drop his plan to betray Jesus this moment would not happen, and Satan would not enter Judas and he would not betray Jesus and saves his life.

Because Judas still has this plan to betray Jesus, the Satan took this opportunity and took possession of Judas and eventually lead him to his demise.

Bible depicts many instances when demons entering human soul and resides in it for many years and even for a lifetime.

But from this event it is also evident that the Satan himself enters certain people and control them to his advantage and desired goal.

The "door of our souls" is always open from our birth, and it is a matter of time whom we actually will invite inside, for better or for worst.

Sometimes I hear people jokingly saying, "Devil make me do this," as excuse. But the problem is this, if a person has evil and dishonest inclinations, the Devil is always nearby and ready to enter the soul and take full control of it.

Only one entity at a time can enter our soul, GOD or Devil, and depends on our preference for good or for evil, one of them enters our heart and resides in it.

Serpent who tempted Eve was craftier than other animals, but he was not the Devil, but the Devil noticed him, entered him and changed the course of entire human history.

Even such great people as David could be possessed by Devil in times when their mind planning evil or something that GOD would not like (1Chronicles 21.1).

Jesus numerous times warned about Satan directly and indirectly in His parables, showing to us that Satan has many abilities to tempt and to control people (Matthew 13.19.38-39) (Mark 4.15) (Luke 8.12).

Even in such moments when someone distressed and trying to help, Jesus immediately noticed the work of Satan behind the scenes (Matthew 16.23) (Mark 8.33) if that help does not going the way the GOD want it.

By the same name Satan, Jesus not only called Peter but also called and Judas (John 6.70-71).

Jesus of course did not mean them as the actual Satan, but as being possessed by the Satan in that particular moment.

Remember, if Satan did not resist to test the Son of GOD Himself, how then human beings can avoid and resist him?

How recognize those who possessed by the Satan and recognize those who does not. In this case Jesus pointed to the liars and all the hypocrites who never tell the truth (John 8.44).

Ananias and his wife Sapphira also fell under the spell of Satan and opened their souls to him and lie to the Holy Spirit. They paid with their lives for such treachery. (Acts 5.3).

It seems that not only murderers and most barbaric criminals deserve death penalty, but in the eyes of GOD: lies, deceit, treason, betrayal, and disloyalty, no lesser evil than the murder.

In some instances, a person may be handed "over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the Day of the Lord." (1Corinthians 5.1.5). Sometimes, when people suffer, their returned to their senses and turned to the Lord with repentance and grief.

What could save a person from the Satan? Prayer and Self-Control (1Corinthians 7.5). Discipline and constantly be on alert against Evil One also can save a person from the Satan (1Peter 5.8-9).

Satan disguises Himself in many different forms, with good and trusty looks and pleasant speeches, even as the angel of light.

So, those who has common sense, careful, know the Scripture and understand it, would not come into the trap of the Satan (2Corinthians 11.3.14-15).

Do not make room for the Devil in your soul (Ephesians 4.26-27).

    James 4.7
7.Submit yourselves therefore to GOD. Resist the Devil and he will flee from you.

I'm not sure that we have a good understanding of this. Scripture tells us that Satan entered Judas, and presumably Peter by his words to Christ. In these cases the "take over" you mention appear to be more of influence (Peter didn't want Jesus to die, Judas was by nature greedy).

But then we also have people possessed by demons.

The point of my post is to be always on alert from all sorts of temptations, questionable and evil thoughts.

    1Peter 5.8
8.Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the Devil prowls around looking for someone to devour.

It is does not matter what our intentions are, good or bad, but sometimes we do things thinking that they are right, but we do not know from whom our thoughts, desires and wishes coming from.

So, if a person greedy like Judas or simple like Peter, in both cases they are had been driven by the same Entity - the Devil.

This is why Peter issued this statement and many similar ones to it, warning us to be discipline, means remember the Scripture and turning to it on every occasion then we desire to say or do something, and keep alert to make sure that our thoughts are not coming from Devil.
