I just got home from a debate at the University of Wyoming and Kent Hovind was great!

This is truly a man of God.I can't say enough about the guy. I thing he is so on track. I don't think he said one thing tonight that I or any Christian could disagree with.

This man shared the plain simple gospel with many student tonight.I praise God for his testimony. [IMG]

    Oh, I'd really doubt that!

Unless he only gave the gospel message and left his pseudo-science at home. ..even then I'd have to listen verrrry carefully.

Here's the thing about Dr. Hovind. He was one of the first scientists I heard after becoming saved. He is entry-level, in that his lectures caused me to ask questions about what I was taught in school, and look into these questions further. I was introduced to Helen & Barry Setterfield on this board, and then was able to go further. Kent Hovind does provide a service, and I do thank God I heard him. He may not be the most accurate, and he does mix opinion with fact, but he sure did strengthen my faith in the bible.

That was a good response, Bro. Curtis. Most gracious response I've seen on the subject - and I'm in complete agreement with you.

    thanks

Amen! I appreciate what he is trying to do, but the pseudo-scientific arguments he presents do more harm than good, IMO.

If someone were to leave his lectures and try to use any of that in a debate with an evolutionist who knew much about evolution they would make a fool of themselves.

Can someone give an example of these psuedo-scientific arguments?

I'm glad you enjoyed the talk.

It should be noted that many Young Earth Creationists disagree with Kent Hovind.

I was hoping to find a reasonable analysis of Hovind's material for you and put "Dr. Dino" Hovind into Google. I got his site and then almost nothing but ridicule of his material. I read some of the pages and they, like what he says, combine fact with fiction regarding what he says and what the Bible says.

It seems a pretty hopeless mess. I don't have the time to quietly analyze his presentations with actual scientific fact and biblical fact but if anyone is aware of someone who has, I would appreciate knowing about it.

I am NOT interested in those who simply want to support or ridicule him, but in an analysis of what he is actually saying and claiming.

I know when he makes claims that because chimps still have babies and not one of them is human and that therefore evolution cannot be true that he is spouting total nonsense. I know that his claim that the UPC codes are ways to start a world government is rather silly. But there is a ton more where that came from and I really do want to know if someone has sat down without a pen full of poison to take a look at things this man has said and claimed.

Well I have read all this stuff on the board about how bad Dr. Hovind is and I read Helens posts all the time and I agree with Helen on most every post but I know for sure that that man made Dr. Greasenburg [A professor at the University OF Wyoming] go home and scratched his head. [IMG]

Dr.Hovind has updated his science and did a wonderful job of representing Christ.

That's the really important thing Christ.

So all I have to say to all you critic's out there is when you get to the University of Wyoming to debate any of the professors I'll gladly come see you and we'll see how you do with 1000 student that have been taught evolution their entire lives.

Those student clapped for Hovind for a long time after the debate. I'd like to think that maybe he really did do some good for God's kingdom.

So you guys go ahead and put him down if you want but I believe that he is a man of God.

    Well Johnv

I'm quite sure you have lied cheated or stole and for that I am proud of you .

How many did you lead to Christ yesterday or last month or last year?

Remember do all things to the honor and glory of God.

I think Dr. Hovind work's for God.

And yes I'm sure he has sinned and so have I and so did the Apostle Paul or did you forget that he was a murderer?

I am with you Sample if you are doing Gods work in the here and now then your past should not matter. We all have a past, as long as we are saved now and do Gods work now, I am good with that.

    Actually Johnv,

Dr. Hovind has a real conviction against paying income tax. He believes it is unconstitutional, and he has gone about not paying it according to the law. He sees himself as legally doing this, and it is because of the principle.

My family knows him personally, and I can tell you that he is not trying to "evade taxes", or to be a fraud. He has a true belief against this, and it is based on his study of the constitution.

Technically, he's right, too. I cannot say I agree with him on his way of going about it, but I can say that he is in no way trying to be a fraud or charlatan or evade taxes. He pays all other taxes. It is the income tax that he objects to based on the fact that it is unconstitutional.

Please do not call him a fraud and a charlatan. He may not have updated all of his information scientifically speaking, but he has a true heart to serve.

I haven't seen many grown men who are better with children, either. He made a paper airplane that flew abot 20 yards. It was very cool. He made me feel like a kid.

Besides, ain't fraud and charlatan the same thing ?

Income tax was made a part of the constitution by the 16th amendment. How can it be unconstitutional when it is in the Constitution?

He may choose to break the law, but as a lawbreaker he should suffer the consequences of the law. If he goes to jail it will not be suffering for his faith, it will be because he chose to break the law.

Do we make convictions the basis for civil obedience? Should a Muslim's religious convictions exempt him from obeying the law?

This is one major reason why I cannot support this brother's ministry in any way.
