    I'm going through a tough time with life and my job. The spiritual side of me knows that all things work together for good to them that love God, but the flesh side often feels overwhelmed. Please pray that God grants me the courage, strength, peace of mind, and most importantly the wisdom to make it through. Thanks.

    Chuck, I relate with you very much because of my experiences in a stress filled career as a young man (I'm not so young anymore). One of my favorite hymns is an oldie but a goldie, 'How Firm A Foundation'. this line in the song means so much to me now:

    'For I will be with thee thy troubles to bless
    And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.'

    May God grant you to be able to do as I have and look back on these times when you're older and realize that truth. There IS a purpose for it. It removes the dross.

    "How Firm a Foundation, Ye Saints of the Lord"

    1. How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
    Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
    What more can He say than to you He hath said
    Who unto the Savior for refuge have fled?

    2. In every condition, -- in sickness, in health,
    In poverty's vale, or abounding in wealth,
    At home and abroad, on the land, on the sea, --
    The Lord, the Almighty, they strength e'er shall be.

    3. "Fear not, I am with thee, oh, be not dismayed,
    For I am thy God and will still give thee aid;
    I'll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
    Upheld by My righteous, omnipotent hand.

    4. "When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
    The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
    For I will be with thee thy troubles to bless
    And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

    5. "When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
    My grace, all-sufficient, shall be thy supply.
    The flames shall not hurt thee; I only design
    Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.

    6. "E'en down to old age all My people shall prove
    My sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love;
    And when hoary hairs shall their temples adorn,
    Like lambs they shall still in My bosom be borne.

    7. "The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
    I will not, I will not, desert to his foes;
    That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
    I'll never, no never, no never, forsake!"
