Would you consider viedo tapping a message to be shown at your own funeral?

Are you talking about the deceased making a pre-recorded message himself or herself?

Well, what comes to my mind is Yul Brynner's commercials after he died of lung cancer. Remember those?

After his funeral, there were some pre-recorded commercials on TV of him saying, "If you are watching this commercial, then I am dead. Don't smoke.....don't smoke.....don't smoke."

I suppose if one were going to pre-record a message to be played at a funeral, I would think that you would want to do that only if you felt pressed to do so. It's a personal decision.

The only thing that should be considered is if friends and family left behind would be moved to hysterical tears or just tenderly moved. That would be a big factor.

Sounds like a good idea. Morbid, but good, nonetheless.

Maybe you could finally get stuff off your chest...

Tell someone off from beyond the grave!!!

Don't take me seriously.. I just got out of a youth lockin, and neeeed Sleep....

OH NO>.. another sign of BB addiction!!!
Spend 12 hours with youth at an all night lock-in, and the first thing you do before going to bed is check BB!

BTW... we had one 15 girl get saved that has only been in church 2 times her whole life... I spent over an hour explaining to her the gospel.. I wanted to make sure she understood it inside and out...
That is something exciting.. leading someone to the Lord that knew nothing about Him whatsoever... I went from Genesis to Revelation with her... She is getting Baptized Sunday...oh, tomorrow.. man I need sleep... but can't... I have to have my oldest son to a band concert in a little bit...

I may be in bed by noon....

For the OP.. I don't think I would tape myself...

    Tiny,

    I'm praising God with you!

As for the OP, not me. All I want is someone to present the gospel.

Good idea, but I don't think my family could handle it.
And then too, there's the fact that I gain at least 10 lbs on film.....

This is a great idea. I have been thinking about this for years, now 70 I better get to making that video very soon. This is a wonderful idea to express one's self one last time in the physical realm. It is also my intention to say something about salvation ,first my salvation, and then about how others can come to salvation. This should make a very good altar call and it is my strong desire to give one final altar call. My little witnessing ministry is called "The Altar Call".

Very good ideas, mima. I was thinking, you could do 2 things - have the video, but also have your presentation typed out on the service program with your picture on it. People see the video once, but can take the program home with them and "chew" on it over and over.

Just for fun, do these in the video:

    • Video yourself in front of a fireplace, and see how folks react. Mention how hot it is.
    • Say something like, "Aunt Susie...would you mind coming up to the casket and scratching me, right between my shoulder blades? Thanks so much."
    • Casually mention "treasure map" and "buried loot" in your message.
    • Say, "I told you I was sick!"
    • If you're really, really the traditional type, claim in your video that you're leaving money for the church to buy a drum set. If you're really, really of the modern stripe, say the same thing, only replace "drum set" with "handbells."
    • If your audience is Democratic, tell them that Ronald Reagan said hello. If they're republican, say that John Kennedy said hello.
    • Try an "Oral Roberts" trick. Claim that if the crowd doesn't pledge at least a million to your church, God is going to send you back. (Only do this one if you have a great self-esteem...they probably won't...but if they do, then hot dog!)
    • With a tear in your eye, and a cracking voice, share with your people the one thing they could say that would mean the most to you right now:
      • "Hey, Look....He's moving!"
[serious] One serious thought: I like the idea. [/serious]

    Video Funeral

That sounds like a great idea, the problem is, is that my wife would never do it or allow it. She would not even consider having me creamated and the ashes dumped into a bucket of paint and then donated to some kind of anti-Jesus group to do some painting. Can you imagine if they were in the room when the rapture happens? That's my kind of thinking.
