Preaching of the Gospel these days

It has struck me - from attending different denominations' churches in the past and listening to some discernment radio shows - that the full Gospel is not preached much these days. By that I mean the full law/grace message, we are all sinners, we all need God's mercy, Jesus had to die for our sins and so on....

Why is that so?

First what you are suggesting comes with a high price to the one preaching such messages and sacrafice is not at the top of the list today. Also I would say it is because we are now interring into the falling away that is mentioned in scripture and people would rather have their ears tickled then hear the truth. If someone preaches an easy believism message many will get on board and that seems to be the focus instead of how many are really converted.

Thanks freeatlast. What you saying is very concerning. Do you think that there are in fact many false converts who really do not want to hear the truth preached in their churches?

Yes, it is a big problem. Liberals have been a tool of Satan for a long time now and many continue to be deceived because of their perversions of the Gospel. Many of these liberals are simply into Christianity as a social club and it makes them feel good to do some charity work. They don't believe in the miracles of the Bible and they don't believe in a literal Hell. When you don't believe in Hell, why bother to tell people they need saving from it?

Basically, the reason in a nutshell is that man is a sinner, in the dark, and the Cross of Christ shows us that NONE are able to God by themselves. ALL need to grace of God applied to their behalf...

Light came, and those who refused Him are choosing to stay in their darkness...

it just goes "against the grain" for sinners to have to admit that NOTHING that we can do will be able to save us, get us in a right relationship with God, and ONLY the Cross of Christ can bridge that gap!

I don't think self proclaimed Christians care if they offend God. What they don't know is that their game is way more expensive then they want to pay on judgement day.

You're correct it is shocking. As on another thread, it's called easy-believism. You don't have to believe much, you can pick and choose what you want to believe, doesn't matter, and it becomes not politically correct to state that such in this condition are not truly saved.

Jesus said His Sheep hear His voice. They believe His Word, and they follow Him.

Those who do not are not His sheep, no matter what and how they argue for it otherwise.

Do you think these preachers are preaching false teachings (knowing full well they are false teachings) or they are very poorly trained and don't even realise what they're saying is wrong/insufficient? Or even worse deceived themselves and leading their followers into the pit of hell?

Think that a majority of them are NOT saved by God, and that they are getting their ideas from current culture/society, some evn heeding "seducing spirits!"

just fulfills the scripture where paul; states that in last days men will take heed to seducing spirits, and want to have their ears 'tickled" by teachers/preachers NOT taeching from the Bible, but from false doctrines of demons themselves!

You register yourself as a Baptist. May I ask what kind of Baptist you are? The reason I ask, is that your statement above does not generally reflect those in the Baptist denomination. Just curious, hope you don't mind me asking. The context of the verses you quote above has nothing to do with miracles, signs and wonders, but rather the power of the Gospel to save a lost person. If you will carefully examine the context you will see this very clearly. Paul is admitting that he was not eloquent in his speech, but denying that eloquence equals power in the salvation of souls. Just plain gospel preaching. He is taking the reader back to his opening statement in 1 Corinthians 1:17-18 where he declares the power of salvation is in the gospel, not in baptism. He develops this theme because the Corinthians were divided over personalties that baptized them. The personalities were but instruments and working for the same boss - God. The power of salvation is not in personalities, baptism or eloquence but in the the plain_n_simple gospel. That is the greatest of God's miracles - the salvation of a lost soul through faithful preaching of the plain_n_simple gospel!

What makes you think that apostolic signs and wonders are present today? Paul says they are the "signs of an apostle" (2 Cor. 12:12). Do you believe there are apostles today? Or do you believe they were foundational (Eph. 2;20) and thus temporary gifts? Do you believe the Scriptures are the finished revelation of God and final authority for faith and practice or do you believe in ongoing revelation?

'.....This is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not hear the law of the LORD: who say to the seers, "Do not see," and to the prophets, "Do not prophesy to us right things, speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits. Get out of the way, turn aside from the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us"' (Isaiah 30:9-11. cf. also 2Tim 4:3-4).

Most congregations today do not want to hear that they are sinners and need to repent. They would sooner fantasize about spurious miracles and the 'prosperity gospel.'

I've seen it happen. I can tell you this, I've heard many a great heart felt sermons that brought quite a few up to the altar, and there's nothing wrong with that. But when I saw a man preach and then heal a deaf woman in Jesus' name, it sure was an awesome thing to watch! She was deaf all her life that I knew of.Took me awhile to believe it myself, then when it lined up with the bible it really became real to me. The guy didn't walk around saying he was an apostle either, after watching a miracle nobody really thought to ask for credentials lol. Now that was holy spirit power!

I saw a man preach and then heal a deaf woman in Jesus' name, it sure was an awesome thing to watch! She was deaf all her life that I knew of.Took me awhile to believe it myself, then when it lined up with the bible it really became real to me. The guy didn't walk around saying he was an apostle either, after watching a miracle nobody really thought to ask for credentials lol. Now that was holy spirit power!

Wow. That IS impressive


But I can top that.

Back in 1982 I..me..was a dead man..deader than a doornail.

But in a moment of time...I still remember it as if it were yesterday...God brought me to life!

I am speaking of Spiritual life of course, but Spiritual life is much MUCH more important than our physical life.
