President Obama now says that the economy is not doing so good and in addition it's the Republicans fault (he is consistent on that premise).

- President Barack Obama stressed the U.S. economy is "not doing fine," seeking to clarify his earlier comments about the private sector and accusing his Republican rivals of lacking ideas about how to stoke growth and create jobs.

An additional thought:

Although the Republicans are accused by the administration of lacking ideas concerning revitalizing the economy it's just not true;
almost every one of them in leadership and in the scope of the public media to the man/woman have staunchly advocated:

Vote President Obama out of office.
Eliminate ObamaCare
Minimize regulations (e.g. Overturn Dodd-Frank).
Decrease Government size.
Income Tax reform.
Eliminate governmental waste, spending and fraud.
"Drill baby drill".

And many more...

There are many, many jobs bills that have passed the House and Harry Reid has continued to sit on them and never bring them to the floor in the Senate.
