Principality of Jerusalem

I had a half-baked idea I thought I'd share with you all. One of the major impediments to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is who will have control of Jerusalem. My answer is neither and both. I would make Jerusalem a sovereign city-state like Singapore, Monaco, and the Vatican City with a government modeled after that of the Principality of Andorra. In Andorra, they have an elected legislature with the President of France and the Roman Catholic Bishop of Urgell serving as co-princes. The co-princes of Andorra are the nominal heads of state.

Here's how this would work- the inhabitants of Jerusalem would elect a legislature which would have all of the real power. The Israeli president and the Palestinian president would serve as the co-princes of Jerusalem, each with the style His Serene Highness. They would be figureheads and the nominal heads of state.

Well that's wonderful, except Jerusalem is called the "City of David" for a reason, not the "city of Mohammed."

I have two thoughts. As far as our nation is concerned, it is none of our business. We need to stay out of other people's internal affairs, as we have our noses in many places where it does not belong.

As a Christian, I disagree with the plan you propose. I think that Jerusalem belongs to Israel, and Israel alone. I could care less what Arabs, Muslims, or other such groups think about the situation.

I find it hard to believe that a Christian would even consider some of the ideas noted here considering that Israel is "--the apple of MY eye."

According to Baptist theology in the year 2012, when practicing Jews die do they go to Heaven or Hell?

(some) Baptists et alia use Israel like a good luck charm. If we are nice to Israel God will be nice to us even as he sends Jews to Hell for following the Law that God gave to Moses for them.

I think every human has the option of Heaven except those specifically named as reprobate in the Bible such as Judas and Esau.

Now, what say Baptists?
