Okay, here is a question for all you experts out there. A few months ago my old computer literally fried its brains out - you could smell it burning. I went out and bought a replacement. When I hooked up my printer, it worked just fine except for a small glitch. The printer now starts with the last page in the sequence, and works its way forward to the first page. This happens whether printing from the internet or from a Word document or whatever. If the document has more than a single page, the printer starts at the end and works its way to the beginning. BTW, the printer is a Canon BJC-250. The computer is a Systemax Venture with WindowsXP Professional installed from the factory. Any ideas?

    Well, that's interesting.

I'd open up the settings, and check for an option regarding multiple pages.

Some printers are just set up that way -- far more convenient to pick it up already collated than to have to do it yourself.

If you don't like it, go to the printer commands in the computer and tell it to do it front to back.

Thanks for the suggestions, Don and Abiyah. Unfortunately I have already tried both of those to no avail. And the printer printed from first to last when hooked up to the old computer - that is what puzzles me...

I won't pretend to know the answer to this one, however, I am aware that it is possible in the options somewhere to change the page order of the pages being printed so that you do not have to reverse them (esp. in Word). Do you have a spare "clunker" computer with an older OS good enough to try to install your printer to in order to see if this stops? I have a feeling that it is the XP--- I became fairly well versed with computers, but I still have tendencies against XP, especially with older hardware. (Not to mention I think the GUI looks like a sick cartoon). Some hardware will not even run on it. Our household is stuck (happily) in 98SE mode yet for this reason (we have 4 computers hooked up to the Internet). However, if your printer works fine otherwise, then I would consider this one of those small-stuff nuances. You know what they say, "Don't sweat the small stuff."

Your "Print in reverse order" setting has been selected. I'm not sure where to find the setting (I use Mac OS X at home, not Windows XP), but it should be fairly easy to find in your SETTINGS -> PRINTERS menu area.

If you don't figure it our by Monday, I'll check on a Windows XP Professional system I use at work and I'll try to locate it for you.

Click on File, Print, Preferences, Features and then uncheck Print Last Page First. I have Windows XP on my new computer.

My printer allows for several options. I can print whatever pages I want first. I can print the odd pages or even pages if I want. I can print the last page first or last page last. I can print on both sides of the page.

In my print box it has a place to check print in reverse order. If it is unchecked it will print the first page first. Depending on your printer and the way the pages come out of it will determine your order preference. On my inkjet printer it comes out the text facing up. If the first page is printed it will be the last page of the stack of paper when the printing is done. On my laser printer the text comes out facing downward so the first page that is printed becomes the top age of the stack when it is done printing.

When you go to file and click on print check the boxes in your print box to see what is checked. You can get it to do most of what you want it to do. If you still have problems go to your help section which may be on your software CD that came with your printer. Then if that doesn't work you might go to the website of the company that made your printer or call the printer company for help. Some companies may charge you for help and others will not.

Just out of curiosity, isn't this a good thing? My printer does this, and I appreciate it much more than my old printer. As Abiyah said, it's a lot more convenient to pick up that way. [IMG]
