Does anyone know if browsers have a limit of how much they can display on one page, length wise?

I made a page - long page of data and pics in MS Expressions (also works in Frontpage) and all works well. Open it in a browser, be it explorer, firefox, chrome or safari and about half way through it becomes distorted. It looks like it is laying section upon section. It looks like three or four different sets of information like it is out of space and just crams it in.

Is there anyway to change any limitations if there are any?

It is not a system memory problem as it is quite adequate according to my system monitor.

No limitations that I am aware of. Maybe it is a formatting error of some sort? Since it is doing it in every browser it would have to be something on the page.

Is the page online? Is there a link that we can look at?

I am not aware of any limitations. I have seen some really long pages that did not have problems, unless you have a super long page and actually did reach a virtual limitation. Wow you could be famous.

Is the page straight html coding or is it querying data and displaying it to the page? More information would be helpful. If it is online, we could look at the source code and try to locate the problem.

Thanks Trotter. My thought was if there was a limit Expression would limit what you could do but then it is a Microsoft program! :tonofbricks:

Sorry for the loss of your father! That will take some getting used to! :tear: My dad has been gone for many years and I still miss getting together with him.

Sorry RD, you posted while I was writing and missed your message till tonight.

I'm fairly sure after another day of messing that there is something in the way the guy coded that particular page.

The page that made the file I was making fail was below. I was copy and pasting his individual pages into one big long one so I can search for a particular stamp by picture without going back and forth. I could get all the others together and they would work in MS Explorer, but not in other browsers. Add this page and all sorts of trouble hit :)

I finally was able to download all the pictures for the above page then copy and paste the page into front page, and it worked so I quickly copy and pasted that into the long file and it worked.

Looks like some of the tables are superimposed over others. Maybe the various pages were using the almost the same spacing for the various tables on their respective pages before you copy and pasted them?

That page is quite flaky, you can't copy and paste it and get the pictures. In firefox, safari and chrome the last bunch of pictures do not show either, just black spots.

    I emailed him about it.

That page is not too long. After looking at the source code, it seems to me the problem is with the program that is being used. That is a fairly simple page to code. It is just simple table layouts and a stylesheet would simplify the coding.

WYSIWYG programs will almost always hack up a webpage, and I have never liked the way frontpage rendered any of my webpages. Frontpage is what caused me to teach myself to write html.
