"Sunday was not chosen by the Christian community but by the Apostles, and indeed by Christ himself, who on that day, "the first day of the week", rose and appeared to the disciples (cf. Mt 28:1; Mk 16: 9; Lk 24:1; Jn 20:1,19; Acts 20:7; I Cor 16: 2), and appeared to them again "eight days later" (Jn 20:26)." Benedict XVI

GE:

"On that day", "Sunday" - in advance, a lie because the word of anti-christ -- yet so credulously accepted by naive Protestants.

I guess they did really meet on the first day of the week like the Apostle Paul said:BangHead: Or maybe he really wasn't a real apostle, but a covert operant of the Pope, who would not even be around for another couple hundred years.

And again, and again, untill the day I die, so help me God. I don't play; I don't joke; I work. I show the lie; I show the truth. Shoot me!

I'm tempted by Mammon, to take a bet. But I'll resist. You just show me where Paul said that? I would have bet you a thousand dollars - about as much as I could have mamaged to put down at this point in time. And not a word of mine a lie.

Is OP a medical abbrevaition?

Sorry, I have found "OP" to be a pretty common abbreviation here for Original Post. I wrongfully assumed you would understand. I am sorry.

But since I have your attention...what is your point?

Oh you're right. His instructions to the churches in Galatia and Corinth to lay aside something on the first day of the week meant that they really didn't meet on the first day of the week. Thanks for the clarity:sleeping_2:

1 Cor. 16:2 On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come.
Acts 20:7 Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.
Mark 16:9 Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

The Lord rose on the first day of the week. The disciples met on the first day of the week. We meet on the first day of the week today as did the disciples.

So that on the Sabbath no one would do such money things, but worship in spirit and in truth.

When had they before actually gather for Holy Communion? On the Sabbath!

Oh now I see we are using the GE version of the bible, not the Bible itself. I suppose you have no problem with the false prophecies of Ellen G White cause you can make them say anything you want as you have the Scripture. There is no reason to talk with you as you clearly don't use the Bible as your final authority, but your own warped understanding.

Show me this one, and I'll sell my house and give you every sent of it!

What has Ellen G White to do with this? Man, you brag your ignorance incredibly"! Ellen G White as far as this issue is concerned sides with you ... and opposes me, just like you do, and with exactly the same argumants and even words. You are laughable!

Then it's not GE's version: it the literal presentation to you, my man, of the Greek.

While I am not Amy, and certainly don't want you sent (re cent) here is what that passage says...

Mark 16:9 (King James Version)

9Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

GE:

Jesus "was risen", and, "early the first day appeared" --- I have no problem with it; you have!
