Let me ask you KJV people something, and remember, I was one of you until just recently! If someone came in and took your KJV's away from you by force, and the only options available were the NIV, NASB, RSV, ESV, CEV...would you use them to get the Word of God and to continue learning of the Lord? I want you to seriously think about it and let me know, either here or by email to LionelandJean@cs.com
(NOTE: Don't be sending me your KJV Materials, just answer the question please. All who send the KJV stuff will automatically be deleted.)

Thanks,

B.T.  [IMG] ;)

Ps 119:11 ¶ Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. (KJV)

11 ¶ Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You. (NAS95)

Ps 119:16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. (KJV)

16 I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word. (NAS95)

No??? So you would have refused God's word in 1590? I post the comparison above to show you that these verses say exactly the same thing with slightly different wording.

For you to take these verses and pervert them to support KJVOnlyism is dishonoring to scripture and to its Author.

Have you put an idol before the Lord God? It appears that the KJV is more important to you than knowing God.

Praise God for giving you light in this matter!

You ask a great question. I have a feeling the answers you get will only confirm the cultic and irrational position KJO people take.

peace,

</font>
So what, those verses may agree, but what about those that don't? My answer is still and will always be NO!!!!!! It would seem putting down the KJV & those who have anything to do with it is more important than the Lord God.

Brother Tony

The question you pose has no real point to it. It's like asking "have you stopped beating your wife yet?" Any thing you answer will be wrong. So it is with this question.

If someone took my KJV away by force and left only the other versions, I'd say that's not being very Christian at all.

What's wrong with the answer "yes"?</font>
Exactly.

If you belive the 1611 (or 1769 or whatever) is the inspired, inerrant, Greek and Hebrew correcting Bible then nobody had this bible prior to 1611. What did Christians do before then?

Well..they used what they had and prayed God would weed out the dross.

The question is good because it shows how KJO people apparently worship their bible and not the Author of it. Without their KJV all is lost. NOT SO! God is bigger than any translation and HE WILL keep HIS people even if they are using the NASB or NIV!

Hi Tony! I only use the KJV. However, given the scenario you raised, where the KJV would not be available, I would use the NASB.

I often "cross-reference" my KJV studies with the NASB. It's a good translation - though NOTHING beats the KJV. [IMG]

What if the opposite were true?

As in, if all the other versions disappeared, would everyone here hold to/use the KJV?

Or work on another translation?

I'm not KJO. But I do love the KJ version. Sure I'd use it w/out hesitation.

Boy!! I always thought the KJVO'S were a bit, (er, how shall I phrase this), Pharisaical in their view of this belief, but I never realized just how MUCH it really meant!?
For some reason this question
sure has stirred up a hornets nest, although I cannot see the reason unless more emphasis is being put on the "creation" than the CREATOR!!

-----------------------
Grew up reading the KJV; no problem with going back to it. Just remember it's God we worship, not the KJV! :D

Okay let's back off the rhetoric and personalities and stick to the issue.

I believe the KJV gets a bad rap.
It was over 48 years ago that the truth of John 3:16 brought light to my dark soul and I rested my all on Christ and accepted his promise of everlasting life.

I am not a KJO person, however, in my studies of God's word I begin with the KJV and reference to many other tranlations. I have come to enjoy the NASB amplified and other electronic versions.

Someone once said "If the KJV was good enough for the apostle Paul, it is good enough for me" :D

God has promised:
"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Isaiah 55:11

"Ainsi en est-il de ma parole, qui sort de ma bouche: Elle ne retourne point à moi sans effet, Sans avoir exécuté ma volonté Et accompli mes desseins" KJV french

Regardless of translation or language God will bless his word.

Robert

Nope. God has told us to write His word upon the table of our hearts. I have His word in my heart. In a lot of ways, I feel that since I got saved, God has been the one to "bring me up." He has shown me how to live my life, and I find Proverbs 3:5,6 hold are such precious words of the Bible.
When in times of trouble, I remember God's word in my heart, and threw His Word, He helps me threw it all.
I wouldn't need to use another "bible" because God would guide me. "You can take the Bible from the Christian, but you can't take the Christian from the Bible." Meaning, even if I didn't have a copy of the KJV, God would still "Direct my paths" as my life verses say. {proverbs 3:5,6}

I don't worship the Bible, I worship the Lord, but the Lord gave us the Bible with His words to live by, so therefore we should follow it.
I believe the KJV is God's inspired, infallable, inerrent word, and always will. I think someone asked what did Christians do before the KJV. Well They proably did use what they had, but there is a verse somewhere that says "When that which is perfect is come." Notice it didn't say "He", so it most likely wasn't referring to the Lord. I believe it was referring to the Bible. The closing of the cannan. I could be wrong on that point, but I've always assumed that's what the verse reffered to.
Oh, and btw, you would have a fight on your hands if ya tried to take my Bible! Besides my salvation, and the fellowship I have with my Saviour, it is the most precious thing I have!
I would give my life to protect God's word. Many died so we could have it, and Christ died so it's words would be fullfilled. It is un numerabley precious to me!
~Abby :D
