No, what would be the reason?
I have seen one done where the guy was paralyzed from waist down.

But just off the top of my head.. as long as he goes under, does it matter?

No, I use what I have to have when someone is afflicted, but not for anyone. I am like Tim though, I don't see what would be a problem as long as he goes under.

We use a baptismal stool for everyone. It's not visible to anyone except the pastor and the person being baptisted. It is permanently affixed to the bottom of the baptistry. They sit down and sometimes tuck their feet in a front rung. The pastor dips them backward and they are totally immersed. From the congregation's point of view, it still looks like they are standing up.

The stool keeps them from losing their balance on the way up and possibly going under again or splashing about and displacing water onto the choir!!!!

    Hey, it has happened!

Ours is portable. It's like a giant bathtub, but they sit on an inner ledge and dangle their feet and legs down into the water. The pastor leans them back, and the water comes over them... and they are totally immersed, yet only a 1/2 inch below the water in effect.

What is the point of the baptismal stool? Does the baptize-er have a back problem?

We have a trap door at the altar. When they come forward to say the magical prayer, the pastor pushes the button... they fall through the door onto a conveyor belt... it takes them directly to the baptistry... dumps em in... a mechanical arm opperated wirelessly by the pastor picks em up and drops em into a wringer... they come out a little flatter than they were... but hey.... its effective.

This thread ought to be in the "Humor section", for it beats many there!

How about it Dr. Bob, since you moderate on both these forums?
