This is mainly directed to the Administrator because
I downloaded and installed Mozilla Firefox after reading that post about security leaks in IE.

Firefox is good, except, I don't think it supports tables and background images, or certain versions of css.

For one, the Baptist Board splash page uses tables where it lists down the top 20 discussions first. My mozilla does not show the table borders at all.

If you are using mozilla firefox, and you go to our church's homepage at http://www.columbiaprimitivebaptist.com, you might get the image on the index page, but, not on the second page, and you probably won't get the background images embedded on the other pages. In fact, if you right click on a white space, you will probably see the display background image tab on the menu grayed out.

I used css for the background-images (inline)of the other pages, and used <td style=> to use images on a table.

I say probably and might, because if there is a tweak I need to do somewhere, you may say you are getting background images in yours.

I know they have a technical help forum, but, it's not really a technical help thing as in mozzilla technicians, you know what I mean ? They're just posters in the forum who also use firefox, and they may or may not know the answer to your problem.

I posted this problem and all I got back was somebody's "mine doesn't load bg images on these sites too....."

So, administrator, and those using mozilla, can you help, please ?

I understand mozilla is akin to netscape but netscape supports css and background-images, and I'd hate to think we'll need to figure out another dhtml or js script so firefox displays images and tables correctly.

    Thanks for any inputs. [IMG]

I recently make the switch from IE to Firefox. It is taking me a little time to get use to it -- I've used IE for so long and old habits die hard [IMG]

Anyway, I'm not having the same problems as you are experiencing. I get the table boarders at the Baptist Board opening page. And, I get your pictures and backgrounds at your church site. I can right click and view the background images and the text paragraphs on the left side seem to have a css hover effect, too.

So, I guess all is right as far as this Firefox user is concerned. As to your problem, sorry but I can't help.

Is anybody else having the problem pinoybaptist is describing? Surely someone can step in and help.

    Grandpa,

What version are you using ? mine is 0.9.1 and I wonder if there is a newer version.

Anyway, I forgot to say that when I first installed firefox everything was fine.

The problem started when I installed some extensions and themes other than the default extensions and themes.

So, I'm gonna go ahead and uninstall them again and see what happens.

    I'm using 0.9.1, too.

If things start working for you again after you uninstall some themes and/or extentions please let us know which ones you think "broke" things for you.

Didn't work, grandpa. But I'll keep working on this issue. Let you know soon. The only extension I have left is the DOM extension, and the default theme.

Now I have three browsers in my machine. The IE, the Firefox, and Netscape 7.1 which I installed seeing as Firefox is Mozilla and therefore closely patterned after Netscape.

    Everything is fine with Netscape,though.

One day and counting now. All of the early glitches appear to have cleared up. Going to keep playing with it.

Is there a spell checker download do you know?

After installing it and using it, It's part of netscape isn't it?

And I've had problems with DHTML showing up along with CSS.

I'm wondering if there is a patch out there that would solve this problem?

    Grandpa, I give up.

Nothing I do seems to work.

    Uninstall, reinstall, makes no difference.

Uninstall, find hidden files, delete, erase, wipe hard drive. Reinstall, nothing works.

So, out of my pc, old firefox goes.

In comes Opera. And it's very good.

I can almost guarntee you that the problem is with the themes. I had the same problem when I installed firefox over top of firebird whithout removing the themes (I've done this twice now, once on a laptop and once on my PC and the same thing happened), once I took them off I have had no issues with Firefox on either computer.

    Has your problem been resolved?

If not, could you detail exactly what is going wrong for you? I tried to follow what you wrote, but I have a couple of questions about what is going wrong.

Also, I looked at the website in IE and Firefox (0.9.1) and I don't see any difference other than the transitional effect. Is that what you were talking about?

    Thanks,
    jason

    I love my Firefox.

    You can have IE.

Haven't tried Opera yet, but I am happy with what I have.

Ditto.. The thing I like best is being able to block graphics from all the advertisers.. Any time you see a graphic/advertisement like on cnn.com just right click and select "block images from..."
