Raiding Other Denomination Message Boards

Because of the numerous threads as of late on the RCC, it has been alleged or come to light that some on this board go to Catholic boards to disrupt the forum. I was actually surprised to hear this, as it has never entered my mind.

This is a Baptist forum to discuss Baptist theology. The moderators give some leeway in discussing other faiths, but not to the degree of taking over and destroying the forum. As DHK has said, it is a priviledge to post here, not a right.

My question is, do you think it is right to go to other boards (Catholic in particular) to either get even or disrupt theirs. I do not think is it right. If we do have members doing this, this could be the very reason we have this happening to us. I can see no purpose in going to a Catholic board to "get even." Does anyone know if this has actually happened or not?

I have thought about going to Catholic boards to debate with them. However, I know that even in their threads geared for debate, I would not be welcome, at least not for long. For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Some people just do not like it.

As for the Catholics coming here to debate, I do not mind, and I think it can be good, as long as they stop with personal attacks.

I believe you are correct. Going over to the Catholic boards for the purpose of "getting even" or disrupting them, is deceitful, IMO. We are beginning to see the results of this "deceit" (the inundation/flooding) of "Catholic" doctrinal threads on this forum.

There are some denominations that are similar to Baptist in several doctrines, not all, probably in a broad sense the Presbyterians, Methodists, Lutherans, and to a lesser degree the Episcopalians. However, others, for different reasons, fall into the realm of not agreeing on much anything. That would include the Church of Christ, Pentecostal, Holiness, Charasmatic, and Catholics. JWs and Mormons are not even within the ballpark of being Christian. The point is, the further away from our core beliefs, the harder it is to have any meaningful discussions.

My main beef is that this particular part of the BB is labeled 'other Christian " and I don't see the RCC as being a Chrsitian church! Individual catholics saved by grace of god despite their teachings, yes, their church NO!

Well, they think they are Christians. Maybe we could reach someone by debating.

By historical standards, "Christian" is defined by accepting the ecumenical creeds as truly representing the Christian faith.

We ARE Christians. As long as I have been following this board (and it has been for many years before I actually joined) it has been people leaving Baptist and other Protestant churches for Catholic and Orthodox ones. Just sayin'. Maybe that the real reason they banned them!

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but when you leave this earth you will finally realize you were wrong. Your going to have to spend eternity with a whole lot of us.

I have been very upfront with my decision to leave my Baptist faith for the Catholic faith. I have yet to become a member but I'm in the process. I was Baptist when I joined, I remained Baptist for quite some time, since then I have decided to become Catholic.

First, you need to change your profile.

Second - Most, if not all on this board believe that there will be Roman Catholics in Heaven. And theseBB members also believe that many Baptists will not make it to Heaven.

Bottom line - most belive that only a very small % of Roman Catholics will enter Heaven.

Third - why did you become RC?

For those here who believe the RCC is not Christian, what are you basing that on?

I don't believe Calvinism is correct, but I don't deny that Calvinists are Christians.

It looks like a lot of the RCC threads have run their course. The reason I am a Baptist is that I believe they represent or come as close as we are going to see in this life of what the Lord and Scripture clearly teach about the Gospel and the New Testement Church that the Lord established. Sometimes my passion for the core beliefs result in posts that are less than edifying, and so do many others that post here.

This forum has become over the years very important to me, and I cherish the advice and thoughts I get from other members. Even when we disagree, there is a sense of being brothers and sisters in Christ. That is not so in the threads about the RCC, Mormons, JWs, etc. Everyone draws the line at a different point as to what is Christian and what is not, but surfice to say, the ones I just listed, maybe along with C of C, and Charasmatic Pentecostal are either not Christian or the differences are too great to have any meaningful discussion. Personally, I think the RCC is as far as one can get and still be called a Christian. I think that Mormon and JW fall on the other side of the line, but that is just my opinion. Lots of you put the RCC over the line.

Since the RCC threads have caused nothing but hard feelings and at least one banned, I sincerely hope there are not BB members going into Catholic or any other denomination forums to disrupt their threads. It serves no purpose, is childish, and can only encourage a return visit of RCC dogma. For example, we could have ten thousand threads for the next ten years, and Baptists are never going to be convinced to go to a priest to confess their sins, and Catholics are never going to believe to bypass the priest and go directly to the Lord.
