I'm a big hog fan, but I wasn't expecting anything near to their 27-10 win over #2 Auburn.

Good news for Nutt: looks like he won't be losing his job!

one thing about it: it wasn't as close as the score indicated.

They ran all over Auburn's defense.

I didn't get to see the game, but I'm glad Arkansas won. 'Bout time!

What do you think this means for the season?

If Arkansas can consistently play like this, I wouldn't rule out an 11-1 regular season.

With this kind of play, I don't see them going less than 9-3.

Very impressive win on the road.

However, I don't see them going 11-1. They should have a successful year though.

How many people saw them dominating Auburn at their house before today?

Ken, that is true, no one did including you.

The games I see left that might give them problems getting to 11-1:

    At South Carolina

    Tennessee and LSU

I'll have to see how SC performs against TN, but as of right now, I think the Razorbacks will win that game.

I see them beating SEMO St., LA-Monroe, Ole Miss, and Miss. State w/o much difficulty.

That gets them to at least 8 wins, and I don't see them losing all three against SC, TN, and LSU.

My predictions: if they win through Tennessee, they'll go 11-1.

If they lose at SC, they will go 8-4 or 9-3.

If they win at SC, they'll go at least 10-2.

    -----
What I think will probably happen--beat SC, lose to TN, beat LSU.--10-2, SEC West Champs, lose to Florida in the title game. --10-3 pre-bowl record.

Yeah, I know. In our prediction contest at the office I only had them winning by 4 points, 24-20. But at least I finished 3rd of out 14 people. The 7 folks who picked Auburn to win never had a chance. :)

I hope that the Razorbacks win the rest of their games and then defeat an unbeaten Florida squad in the SEC championship game. Then maybe get another chance at what now looks like a very beatable Southern Cal team.

With all of the twists and turns that take place in college football it could happen.

My outlook for the SEC West:

    1) Arkansas 10-2 (7-1) -loss to TN
    2) Auburn 10-2 (6-2) -loss to FL
    3) LSU 8-4 (4-4)-losses to AR, TN
    4) Alabama 7-5 (3-5)
    5) Ole Miss 4-8 (2-6)
    6) Miss. State 2-10 (0-8)

I hope the Hogs start using the HUNH(hurry up, no huddle) this next week against SE Missouri State, Ole Miss, and Louisiana-Monroe this month. The Hogs should have no problem with these three teams and the HUNH might come in very handy against those three tough opponents in November. Fortunately, two of those three tough ones are at home.

This is one of the biggest Hog wins in years. However, while you Razorback fans are booking your flights to Phoenix or New Orleans, let me just caution you about the fact that Auburn, while undefeated, were not looking great in the process. They have been consistently inconsistent and the pre-season hype about Cox and their lb core has turned out to be pretty much that. Ark's defense held Irons in check, and the Ark running game ran wild. I don't think Mustain is ready to beat anyone with his arm just yet. Time will tell just how impressive this victory is/was.

Having said that, I obviously agree with the commentators who said that UT's trip to Ark is now much more of a game than it was 7 days ago. Given Ark has a mild non-conf schedule the rest of the way, 9-3 is a good chance, but 8-4 is not out of the question. One of the Mississippi teams hasn't pulled one of their yearly upsets, and Spurrier can't be counted out despite how unimpressive his team looks. LSU and UT will have to struggle and the Hogs will have to have an Auburn-sized effort and then some to win both of those games. And I'm sorry folks: no one is beating Florida right now. Their defensive front seven is probably the best in the country. Leak/Tebow are playing well. Their trip to Auburn next week will be a test, but right now the Gators look unbeatable.

    1) So you must think that LSU is an absolutely awful team.

    2) UT's game against Arkansas was always going to be difficult. I am still not all that impressed with UT. If you are of the opinion, Tom, that Auburn was overrated, then you have to think even more so of Georgia which barely beat Colorado and Ole Miss.

    3) No, an Auburn-size effort will be sufficient.

    4) Fortunately, the Hogs, if they meet the Gators, won't do so until the SEC championship game on December 2 - almost 2 months away.

Frankly, I think that the Porkers' win yesterday makes them a player for at least the SEC West title this year and that in the years that follow they will now be a contender for the SEC championship year in and year out. The corner has been turned from the down years of the 1990's and the first half of the 2000's, IMO. Mustiain, Mcfadden, Jones, et al will get better and better as well as Gus Malzahn as an offensive coordinator on the D-I level.

A very nice article by Dan Wetzel in Yahoo!Sports. Some highlights:

"Old Houston went nuts, all right, trampling through a flower bed and climbing up past a row of hedges in one corner of Bryce-Jordan Stadium, up to kiss a couple of mamas, hug a couple of papas and eventually work his way over to the University of Arkansas band where he led them in the singing of the school fight song....

So you had better get used to these climbs into the stands – no matter how they infuriate opposing fans – because Old Houston’s probably going to go nuts a lot over the next couple of years.

“Our band practiced long and hard; our students drove a long way. We just go give it back to them,” he reasoned....

McFadden and Mustain represent a sea change for this program – two homegrown top-line recruits who stayed despite offers from just about every school in the nation. Team them up with Jones, who hails from Oklahoma, and you have a backfield that has to be dealt with for the next few seasons....

“He is a whole lot different [than most coaches], and I enjoy that about Coach Nutt,” Jones said. “He is a player’s coach. I just enjoy him. That is what I looked for in a coach.”

And so Old Houston ain’t apologizing and Old Houston ain’t backing down and Old Houston can’t wait for what’s next because he’s got a heck of a young team that is jelling fast and furious. Those losing seasons, those blowouts to USC, they all are drifting away into history...."
