Lately I have said I dont like ministries. I realize now I only like my Church and the BGEA. (That is my final answer, [IMG]) Anyways, forgive me for being such a snot. I am going through difficult times. Again, the only ministries I trust our my church, and the BGEA.

God Bless, & pray for me please. Pray I understand my own opinions! Thanks.

My church, you see, I know what they do when I donate my money to them. Same with the BGEA. By Law, the ministries are supposed to give you a reciept of what you did. Most don't do that, which concerns me. It also makes me mad.

Can you please tell this poor ole' Suthun' Baptist what the BGEA is? I really don't know and imagine it is a convention which is used to pool money for missionaries. All Southern Baptist Churches that I ever attended (and that is all I have ever been a member of) gives a complete printout at the end of the year of not only the total offering, but most of the time they will even give the dates each individual offering was given. Some will only place the total, but you always get that receipt. So, if you put cash in the envelope you still have a record without having a check. Of course, if you drop it in the offering plate as cash, then duh, I guess you miss out on the ole write-off. You said you were having hard times. I can't say that I understand, but I can say that I will be praying for you that you are comforted and things work out to the glory of Jesus Christ. [IMG]

BGEA is the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association I would imagine. What concerns me is how someone supports them. BGEA has directly and opened disobeyed Scripture and have, for 50 years, defied the admonitions to return to biblical obedience. They should be separated from.

Thanks for the apology and setting the record straight. Most ifb (independent fundamental Baptists) will not support Billy Graham. That is their right, just as it is your right to support them.

The EFCA is a financial accounting group that most "reputable" ministries participate in. This guarantees that when you send in $$ for a particular need, most will go to that need -- and NOT to buy a fancy home for a big-wig somewhere.

After the disappointment that we all had with the $$ being given to 911 organizations as reputable as the RED CROSS and having them pocket 1/2 for "expenses", we ALL should be very careful in our giving.

We give through our church. And we ask a full disclosure from our missionaries as to their total income/work funds/etc and how it is accounted for -- just as you do in your annual meeting at your church.

Christians of all people, should be "above reproach" when it comes to finances.

My point has nothing to do with your experiences (which I am sure were good) or their ethics and integrity (which I have heard to be very good). My point is with Graham's disobedience to Scripture and his alliances and cooperation with those who have denied the very gospel we believe in. He has associated with those who deny the virgin birth, deny salvation by grace alone through faith alone, and many other doctrines we could mention. Long ago, he should have separated himself from false teachers and false religion. People begged him to in person and in letter; he refused to be obedient and to submit to Scripture.

I have heard his integrity is beyond reproach. I am thankful for that. But for 50 years he has been on a dangerous trail of disobedience and compromise. It reminds me of something I read this morning 2 Chronicles from the life of Jehoshaphat: "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD and so bring wrath on yourself from the LORD?" (2 Chron 19:2). Clearly the answer is no; unfortunately, Graham has done that for five decades.

While I am thankful for those who have been truly saved and helped, I am saddened by his lack of obedience. A man with a great personality and charisma, the drive to reach people could have made so much of a difference. But he compromised and in so doing, placed himself in a state of disobedience to God.

    It is a sad thing.

    Larry,

When you say Graham "has associated with", what do you mean?

He has allowed them to occupy roles on the sponsoring committees for his crusades. He has allowed them to sit on the stage at his crusades as a position of honor. He has allowed them to pray at his crusades. He has preached for them, under their sponsorship. He has referred converts to their churches.

I would be careful even with unknown ECFA members. There are many in their directory that should not be there and there are thousands of ethical ministries that are not listed (because ECFA's large fees).

Requesting an "annual report" is always the best way to determine if donations are spent well.

I have found Billy Graham and his organization to be wonderful to work with. By the way I have been yanked around and lied to by MANY Christian organizations.

Seems to me that your complaints are vague and likely to be unfounded. Maybe you have too rigid a set of requirements. Didn't Jesus himself associate with people who were perhaps sinful in various ways?
