Reached my goal for 2013

That's a ton-o-books! What's the goal for next year?

My goal for 2014 is to finish reading Atlas Shrugged...
I bought it 2 months ago and am less than 50 pages into it.
To many books - not enough time!

I saw this the other day and meant to comment. :applause: There you go. A round of applause! My wife and I are voracious readers. We lost our library (about 3000 volumes) in a house fire a few years ago and are slowly rebuilding. I mentally separate my reading into the categories of work reading and recreational reading. Work reading is what I do for sermon prep, personal study and that perpetual hunt for a memorable phrase. That kind of reading is usually slow, plodding work.

Recreational reading, however, is much different. If I find an author I like I will try to get a hold of everything they've written. We stumbled across a collection of Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe at the Salvation Army. There were some duplicates but acquired around 60 of the 75 books in the series for $20.

Down the street from the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY is one of my favorite places to go. Willis Monie Books is wall to wall and floor to ceiling books. The guy that works the counter is amazing. Tell him what you are looking for and he'll walk right to it. A few years ago I bought first editions of Trench's Notes on the Miracles and Notes on the Parables for $10. Lost them in the fire unfortunately.

If you like hunting for those books that have been out of print for 50 years Monie's would be a great place to start.
