Having followed the arguments between Beloved57 and JohnP on the thread "Does God use Evil...", I have a question for the experts.
Since the bible in some places says things like "rebuke them sharply", and in other places "for the man of God must be gentle" and "admonish them as a brother", it is obvious that there are times when harshness is appropriate and times when gentleness is appropriate.
Any ideas on when one approach is more appropriate than the other?
