Does your church normally recite the Lords prayer each week? If so, why; if not, why not?

No, it's not a liturgical church.

Ditto, and it is not truly the "Lord's prayer." IOW, it is not a prayer that the Lord prayed. It is an example of how a prayer should be; a lesson and not a prayer. We should examine the attitudes and values in it and adopt them to our own prayers, but avoid vain repetition.

The church to which I now belong does so. It's a "debtor" church and not a "trespasses" church, which generally trips me up! The church I served as pastor did so routinely when I first went there, but I moved them away from that awful need to do the same thing every Sunday, and, like Tim above, used the LP when I felt led to.

I also often use it at gravesides, because I want a way for the people to participate, and more people know it by memory than can render the 23rd Psalm.

That's always tickled me. If you're in a setting that is unfamiliar for people, everyone kinda goes quiet...thinking to themselves, "is it debts or trespasses here?" And invariably about half say each word. Then when it comes time for "debtors" and "trespass against us," everyone switches.

I guess my mind works in weird ways...
