Reformed whom hold to the Theology of Separation

There is a rare breed among some Calvinists and that is to hold to the doctrine of Separation which is not common among Reformed, but very common among Arminian. Some examples.

Have any of you ever heard of such places? Fundamentalists will not fellowship with Reformed whom do not hold to separation yet will with those that do. Strange? I did not think that MUSIC was such a big issue and was unaware it was an essential of the faith. Is this a new breed in the Reformed movement? I have been to Reformed churches that believed everything and all the essentials, yet had contemporary praise and worship. Why deny them fellowship based solely on their music?????

Like most things, the doctrine of separation my be interpreted differently across varying spheres of human experience. This might include cultural, intellectual, as well as ecclesiastical areas. In a day when there is an eccumenism that seeks to jettison doctrine for the sake of unity, it is probably well that congregations think these things through. Given the Holiness of our God, it is not surprising that the question of worship would come into play. After all, that is the basis of the old divines thinking as expressed by the regulative principle. That principle would certainly represent important reasons for separation or unity.

His former co-pastor,Dr. Michael Barrett is an excellent preacher. He used to head up Geneva Reformed Seminary,now he's in Michigan at PRTS. I listen to him a lot on sermonaudio.com --but I guess I was listening primarily to his older messages. I didn't realize until just now that he had moved.

Arminian multiply like rabbits on this board!

Just joking... I have learned plenty from Arminian and have plenty of their books. Many God fearing people are Arminian.

You know, I am not a big fan of what I call "the blended Church" principally because they are contemporary by design & that includes music. Therefore I dont really like most SBC & Non-Denom Churches & I prefer to stay away from them.... so maybe I am a separatist.

Shunning is a different thing however....I dont believe in that.

verb (used with object), shunned, shun·ning.
to keep away from (a place, person, object, etc.), from motives of dislike, caution, etc.; take pains to avoid.
