I've heard this spoken of: "Release your faith" "How to release your faith" "Why we don't release your faith" Just what is "releasing our faith"? Is that Biblical? What does it mean?

Sounds like something out of the word of faith arena. They like sensationalistic phrases like that.

No human being has inherent ability to believe or else Jesus would never have said that "no man CAN come to me EXCEPT the Father draw him" and that faith must be "given unto him of my Father" (Jn. 6:40,65).

In a saved person, faith is the fruit of the Spirit not a product of man. For example, try telling a child of God not to worry but trust the Lord when they are first confonted with immediate stress! They will worry until they go the Lord in prayer and submit themselves to the Holy Spirit's power. It is the Holy Spirit that produces the state of faith in our mind and hearts (Philip. 4:7).

something from the word of faith/positive confession crowd!

Basically , the teaching is that we need to let loose and let God!

just have enough faith, and God does the rest!

There's none of it in regular Baptist teaching? There's nothing in Scripture about releasing our faith? I'm asking because I heard a very conservative pastor speaking on this and it just set me wondering.....

Ann, I've never heard of this term apart from the WoF crowd. I did a Google search and found a Joyce Meyer video (funny since I mentioned her earlier kidding with you) where she is teaching on releasing your faith. She says that your words have power and go out into the spiritual realm to release God's power. BLECH.

I'll keep searching to see if I can find more.

From Got Questions.org

At the heart of the Word of Faith movement is the belief in the "force of faith." It is believed words can be used to manipulate the faith-force, and thus actually create what they believe Scripture promises (health and wealth). Laws supposedly governing the faith-force are said to operate independently of God's sovereign will and that God Himself is subject to these laws. This is nothing short of idolatry, turning our faith—and by extension ourselves—into god.

its not the amount of faith that we release, its the object of our faith God Himself!

those who want to unleash their faith are trying to become the power that causes God to move on their behalf!
